Internal AMD Overclocking Compo

it is indeed rather large. The Scythe dude is a mate of mine and I was helpng him overclock his 2600k the other night.... So I put my blag head on and pushed the boundries a bit...

I did think about Noctua but that choice would be far too expected.

This way we all get something new to play with

its not as big as the older prototype was when they first floated this design back in 07, that 1 was massive and could hold 8 or 12 120mm fans (i cant recall 100% but it was bigger) than todays version.

im glad they are puttin this 1 into production tbh as it looks like a blow down cooler could be king again.

But not exactly for everday use eh.... It weighs 1.5KG!

whoa! 1.5Kg - i don't think it's for vertically mounted mobos, but rather for benchers with flatbed benching chassis'. there would be alot of stress on a mobo in typical rig set-up!!!!

Its deffo a horizontal cooler with that weight, and tbh I cant see it fitting in many cases!

Never know though Ive not got one yet.

Perfect for my current arrangements xD just replace the board/sink.....well everything and the kit should be good to pop

just a thought - if you reversed the four fans from push to pull, perhaps they may cause some lift and reduce the weight - lol

i cant see it working in most cases at all tbh as the side will choke the airflow (unless its not as tall as it seems) but still, im not sure the weight is that much of an issue. i mean with 3 fans on a d14 it must be close to 1.4kg (if not more) and i know a few running 3 that aint broke any boards yet.

the main issue i see with it in a case is fitting it, you will need the board in the case first to screw it in and it will need the ram and wires in too (you cant do it thru the sink after all) but then how do you get in to mount this :/

if there is a wide enough case to accommodate it, the cooler would have to be fitted to the mobo first before the two are then fitted in the case

wow thats one epic cooler, looks great though lol wonder what mounting system it will use..

thanks for the update

Holy Moses

I thought the Noctua was big.. I reckon this will fit in my Phantom no probs but I'll have to use something to prop it up at the bottom in order to not snap the cpu socket off the motherboard
