Fractal have approached me to help me place 5 bundles featuring a Define S case, 2 x Venturi Series HP-12 PWM fans and a Kelvin S24 water cooling unit each.

This isnt your average competition though, you have to make a pitch and tell us what you would do with the kit and why you would have it. We have been picking the 'best person' in the OC3D Freebies threads for a while now so the regulars will know that a couple of lines is not going to cut it.

Please give us a full run down of what you would do with the kit, what mods you would do, lots of insight into your vision of what is possible with the Fractal case and all of the other kit. Some drawings might help and if you are capable some renders too. Maybe some links to build logs on OC3D you have completed. Id honestly treat this like a job interview or if you were going to ask a vendor for hardware sponsorship. We will be looking for genuine enthusiasm and excitement not just someone looking for a free handout.

This may all come across a bit harsh but lets face it, Ive worked online for a long time and Im just trying to discourage the time wasters and spark the determination in the real enthusiasts.

Please post & discuss your ideas in this thread but keep your main pitch posted edited and updated if changes need to be made. I cant stress enough that effort and detail are key factors in making you stand out, a quick 2 minute post will just get left in the shadows.

Winners will get get the bundles sent to them direct from Fractal HQ and once completed featured on the Fractal Design Facebook page and a dedicated front page article on OC3D. You also never know what I might end up doing for those that show commitment and put effort in to their build logs once the kit has arrived.... /carrotdonkey

We will announce the lucky winners on the 5th of October at the latest but we may start telling people that stand out in this thread before hand. Build log updates will be required to be swift and regular and must be complete before 7/12/15 so that Fractal can use them in December on Facebook. Time scales are non negotiable, this is the real world now peeps you cant go letting people down because you left it too late.

Hmmm, now this has got some ideas flowing.

I wonder if I could mod a 420mm rad onto that pump? Or Maybe I would get the window custom engraved...

I need to get a notepad out for some doodling

Hmm fractal designs always need to be clean cut guess we will need to use a ruler for drawing, otherwise is wont look right.

Time to get the old think box turning over, I was gonna mod my 450D but this is much cleaner base. Crayons at the ready boys.

Going to be wicked to see what you guys come up with tbh, Im itching to get this kit sent out.

You always ask for a forum comp - well nows the time to prove why!

A reservoir filling out the complete front... give me some time I might figure it out lol

I will install some white Bitfenix LED strips.......... does that cut the mustard lol
I wish I still had the equipment to mod, was going to do a Fallout 3 mod on the BitFenix Raider but had to move.
Look forward to seeing peoples ideas.

Oh, now this is a competition that I like :).

The Fractal S is a lovely case as stock, going to be a serious challenge to improve upon it.

I already have a build in progress which fits my gaming pc needs, but I do need a new case for my server. How do you make a server build interesting or exciting though?! Hmm...

Oh balls, now that's some competition, going to have to dig deep here. Lets get it on!

To make it a bit more even and something not normally shown,I will post my pitch in the same manner I do when approaching sponsors to show what a up and coming talented builder would need to do to 'sell' themselves.

Would you think that would even the field?

Tom is not wrong about the CV aspect,it really is like that!

Oh this is going to be entertaining! I do love the case but have waaaaay too many projects to finish. I'll just hang out with some popcorn awaiting the entries, especially from Magoo.

Wraiths Pledge.

Wraiths pledge for the Fractal Modding Competition.

My current hardware as it stands which would be transplanted into the case:

CPU - Intel i5 4440
GPU - Asus GTX 750 Ti
Mobo - Asus H97 Pro-Gamer
RAM - 8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
PSU - Corsair CS650M
SSD - Corsair Force LX 256GB
HDD - WD 500GB Black
Silverstone White Cable Extensions.

Firstly I'd be honored to be considered for one of these bundles and whole heartedly thank TTL, OC3D and Fractal for the opportunity.

My idea for the Define S would be focusing on uber cable management and pure unrestricted airflow, while giving the exterior and interior that sleek stealth feel, now with the interior already being roomy and clean I would pretty much keep it that way for a full loop at a later date or space to expand the Kelvin S24 into a full loop to include the GPU.

The cable management:

Cable management would be taken care of mainly by the interior panels which are designed to hide the main cables I'll also be using E22 stealth cable combs to control the PCI-e cables to keep them snug and flush as they follow around the back edge of the GPU and out the same way as the 24 pin ATX lead, the idea for hiding the cables away is to give a clean look and to maximise airflow.

The Interior:

This interior has been a plan of mine for some time now and I'm aching to get it done, my original plan was to do this with my current case the Corsair 450D using a mixture of Acrylic sheet and hard foam. Unfortunately the price of a sheet acrylic is diabolical in the UK so new medium had to be looked into and sourced, the answer to this was so simple I can't believe no one has even tried and it doesn't cost the earth to do so for all you guys out there who claim you can't afford a swanky show off rig keep looking. The plan is to use a 12 x 12mm pine strip wood to build a frame, which would be cut to size and use groove joints for structural strength. Three of these frames will be required to house all the appropriate areas and complete the interior, PSU cover, Front fan housing & back panel, all these frames will be secured and would also be removable via press fittings the very same fittings you'll find on speaker grille covers.

Once the frames are all assembled and fit flush and securely into place they will then be coated in black paint and wrapped in vinyl, but not the Di-Noc vinyl you are thinking of. This is upholstery vinyl when tacked and firmly wrapped in place will finish the panels in a sleek stealthy finish. As a bonus to using this medium should I decide later I want a change of colour it's as easy as picking off and replacing.

All this interior styling is to be lit with subtle white LED strips located behind the side panel edges.

The Exterior:

While the Define S is a fantastic case and already looks the part, it just needs that extra personal touch, the front panel would be covered with the same upholstery vinyl as the interior as well as a new smoothed angular roof panel which would stand on six chrome risers allowing air to escape and adding a tidy under glow from a white LED lighting strip, this lighting would also continue on the exterior to flow along the bottom of the case.

In summary I'm aiming for a sleek style perfecting personally on a superbly designed Fractal case and creating a clean frame for my hardware to shine.

I thank you for your time and again would like to thank Fractal and TinyTomLogan for this opportunity.
