Right dudes, Ive got four Phenom II X4 970's sat in front of me, 4 sets of kingston LoVo ram and 890FX Boards from Biostar aswell.....!

Why?

Well Ive been getting pestered day and night to support the team a bit so now its time for YOU to show me what you can do with support.

Its all well and good me shouting about the team but for me to get envolved I need more than just HWbot points.

This is still a WIP but what I need for you to be considered for the bundles is.

- Link to HWbot profile

- What air cooler you have

- Why you should get the kit

All participents will be required to complete a full range of CPU benches including F@H, post everything on HWbot AND a thread on OC3D.

Effort may earn a reward, but this is not about blagging free kit for personal use.

It may sound blunt but I vowed I would NEVER do this again after all the hassles last time.

Right negativity over. Whos in?

i'll definately be in mate, ive got 2 CPUs to compare it against too which i can bench with the same tests if required

I have 3 air coolers - CM hyper 212 (dual fan - can be benched with one or two or both), Titan Fenrir and Noctual NH D14.

I love tinkering and testing new hardware and im an eager overclocker with my exper 4-5 machines so far ience lying with AMD CPU's as ive successfully overclocked (to the maximum i could get them) none of which have reported any issues. I love experiementing and changing settings to enhance hardware and speeds so id have alot of fun doing this

Ive got 3 CPU's to compare this with to test general performance, benchmarking, overclockability and folding potential.

Thanks for the kind gesture again Mr. Logan!

I'm in.

I have a Thermalright ultra black air cooling and an Akasa Aurora blue.

My profile http://hwbot.org/community/user/pctwin?tab=personal

I have several achievements on my profile and currently stand 2nd in our team.

I have made over 250 submissions to HWBOT, so have plenty of experience overclocking

I'd like to expand my AMD experience, having overclocked Durons and athlons in the past.

What I want to do with this kit is see if I can get as good a result as I have managed with my previous AMD kit.

My HWBOT profile shows some good results with my Opteron and Athlon tests

I regularly post on the teams forum and help as much as I can with guides and stuff.

I have also made a bench log before, charting a previous overclock.

I am currently folding with a quad core and would be able to compare the two

i am in want to do some more benchies been ages since i have done it

trusted old silver arrow

i should get the kit because i want to bench some AMD components and see how far the silver arrow can take the phenom II x4 970 compared to my intel i7 920, also got a couple of different GPUs i can test it with. also as i said above been ages since i have had the money to get stuff to bench and want to do it some more as i find it quite fun and this would do nicely.

Its NOT just HWbot points. I do not want reviews of the parts just *very* regular updates on your journey overclocking the kit.

Whole point is its a TEAM event.

- Air cooling I have a NH-D14.

Also have a custom watercooling set up. ( which as you pointed out is not to be used)

- Now the tough one. Why should you let me play with the kit?

I think I have proven my self to be able to help the bench team raise the ranks. I’m fully competent with both cpu and gpu overclocking, and find those niggly problems of getting that last Mhz out of each, the most enjoyable part. I must admit first though, I have only ever clocked one Phenom II and one Athlon II, but it shouldn’t be two hard to get to grips with another Phenom. As per the requirement can provide detailed logs of my progress.

The F@H I can test and give feedback on, however I can’t keep a permanent F@H rig running due to the added electricity cost (the reason I don't F@H currently).

But there are a number of people who have been doing stuff for the team longer than me.

All in all, I find this internal comp idea quite a fun prospect. Will be interesting to see who can achieve the best clocks with identical hardware.

Figure I need to post here as it may be the kick up the bum I need to actually get round to benching for the team. I have been looking at joining the team but I am struggling to get decent clocks on my PC so have avoided joining just yet due to "slight" embarrassment.

but could be all part of a "starting to bench guide" EDIT, couldn't resist and had to join, already found teh submit button but neeed to do more

Air cooler - good ole faithful and everyones favourite Noctua NH-D14

Why I should get the kit? - Its a perfect opportunity for me to learn how to imrove my clocking skills (which are limited atm). I think as a complete beginner I could charter my success or failures / trials and tribulations in a thread and show that even for a complete novice good results are possible. hopefully get the team some points and also keep my other rig folding while trying to clocks on an AMD chip and folding ability as well. Which as of April 5th will be 24/7(bumping my average PPD for redline up

and electricity bill too but thats the price you pay for fame

Whilst I am here I know people say all the info can be found on the HWBot site but I do think a quick "guides" sticky would work wonders for getting new members - it certainly helps in the folding at home section and also helps put people at ease if it is their first time at benching and may just be the lever to get them to give it a try. I know I have looked for a guide plenty of times.

As the dragons say I'm in - if you let me

ifx-14 with the hr-10 backplate and many, many fans. yes its an old cooler but tbh nothing new (air cooling wise) makes me think it will drop my temps bellow this baby.

why? well i see this as something of a sticking point tbh because as much as i would love the chance to bench this kit and compare how i can do against the other guys who get it on air cooling im not sure im as deserving as some of the members who have been here longer than i.

what i would do if i had the chance is take some nice pictures and show the performance it gives at stock settings in the more common benchmarks. i would then follow these up with the same tests again at a higher clock which would be more true to the kind of performance people would see if they did a little overclocking themselves and again repeat it at the more bench only settings. i would then show some of the testing i do at lower clock speeds to see what settings are more likely to give the best results when the temp is right to push it as hard as i can. it might not be a thread that sets the world on fire but it will give anybody interested an insight into the work that goes on behind the screen for some of these bench scores.

what i wont do is stop bugging every man and his dog on the forums to come join the bench team at every chance i get, well unless i get told off about it
biggrin.gif

I will apply but i think there are more people who deserve them, those who constantly contribute towards it

What air cooler you have - I have thermaltake frio...which probably lets me down straight away lol

Why you should get the kit - well I haven't overclocked with AMD before but there is always a first, always like the opportunity to overclock something new and see how far I can push it

Missed this would love to bench some amd stuff for a change

hwbot link - http://hwbot.org/community/user/zodiark?tab=personal

air coolers i have bada2010 from themolab, venomous x even a coolit eco if relevent..

as for the reason would love to boost the team score and generally have not had much amd stuff to play around with, due to me buying intel all the time.

I have 2 weeks off work also lol appreciate the gesture mate!

will do a log of the overclocking and results i get and youtube video as i love doing vids.

I got a digital camera for my birthday (yeah... talk about 'with the times' hehe) so build logs and lots of pics are now an option
