Interesting Video on Racism

Wow, that's disgusting.

I almost turned off at the beginning, I'm glad I didn't to see it was an actor behind the counter. I think people don't understand what their country is fighting for and that a LOT of people are innocent in this.

It's an American show on racism that is using an American muslim women actor in a shop with 2 other actors pretending to be the shop assistants.

Basically the actors pretending to be the shop assistants are refusing to serve the women on the grounds that she is muslim and they are calling her a terrorist saying that she is not American and that the store is for Americans only.

The show is focusing on the customers though who are not actors and they are simply agreeing with the shop assistants and ignoring the muslim women. The show is basically trying to show how naive and racist people are and how they treat someone in a certain way based on their beliefs or religion.

A sad video indeed, but racism works both ways. For the past 200-300 years white people have been branded racists, which has actually changed. When racism first came around, it was because of 'lack of knowledge', the rules back then were obscene and pointless. In 2012 there's still racism, but hardly coming from the white side. I'm not saying whites are not racist, some are but the fact is, black people and Asian's are very bad. Out of all my white friends, I know of 1 who's kind of racist, but not to the point of this video.

When I grew up as a kid, my family never said anything to me about racism, and we was never racist as friends. I grew up with 2 of my closest friends who're black, and now they don't want to know me. I have no idea why, but my guessing is racism as they only hang out with the same colour. I have 1 black friend at the moment and 3-4 Asian friends, but I always get looks for being white from other races.

The tables have now turned, in 2012 there's knowledge and rules that are sensible, but still people do not follow them. I know what people think of me when they look at me, and I know that the majority of non-whites that look at me do not appreciate me for being white.

All you ever hear on the news is white's racist, whites murder black man, it must of been a racist attack. The truth is it's changed now, you can't go into a shop in certain parts of Birmingham without being harrased or looked down upon. I've NEVER seen that happen in the areas that the majority are white, EVER.

All these experiences boils down to the truth, whites in my opinion make up 1% of the racists.

Youngie you have to remember that is just in your geographical area. In my area it is still by far white people who are racist although there is some from other races and demographs (anyone remember the two muslim women who beat up another woman for being white and got away with it).

I think it differs for everyones state/county and what levels of socioeconomic inequality and different races there are.

I do agree about the area, but none of this should be going on at all. This sort of stuff gets me quite mad tbh

, needs to come to an end. Racism will always be around, there will always be wars on it also. But still, people will always abuse the racism law, claiming racism is easy when you're not white.

Like I said, not all Asians and blacks are racist, but in my opinion the majority are non-white. Some people are open about their views, some are different and don't want people to know.

I've been accused of racism before as an Indian kid (this was when I was 7-8 don't forget) was stuttering, I coudn't help but giggle. I got letters sent home and everything, my parents weren't impressed with the letter. I think society jump to the conclusion way too often. I've always thought being a racist is 'branding group as a whole, religion or colour something onesided'

7-8 year olds shouldn't ever be accused of something like that, or at least not put to blame, for obvious reasons. I agree the racism card is overplayed, I refer to thar video again where the woman was beaten to a pulp. Those two women received no adequate sentence for their actions on the basis they got drunk and weren't used to being intoxicated (being Muslim and all). Letting people off (or giving a stricter sentence *ahem* Texas *ahem*) based on religion and/or race is a joke.

It sucks for it to be that way though that racism will always be around, I think racism is on the decline though. Most education systems are trying to educate on this sort of thing and are seemingly a success. Hopefully this continues and racism becomes completely intolerable and mostly disappear.

Slightly off topic: As for war always being around, there's no chance of that statement changing anytime in the forseeable future. As long as people have ideals and we are human (as we know it now) war wont end. The best you can do to prevent war is refuse to support it regardless of what the media makes it seem like.

It's an infinite para dime of infinite perportions, racism as Yongie1337 put it is definitely a two sided coin. I'd say that it's quite hard being a Caucasian male through my experiences, as your faced undoubtedly with the actions of your ancestors. Especially at the sense of which you have celebrations of such from other primitive races going against such, remembering such indecency lead from another generation, and your faced with the fact the more and more people become educated of such like racism, the more harm it may very well lead. The Hispanic girl across the street may now unalterably seem different than from originally once realizing the concept of race, but ultimately there are no races, we are of a species and all the same except for sexes and such.

But going back to the Caucasian male thing I was talking about, being blamed for such acts and history also comes with some perks for other races such as a First Nations who now doesn't have to pay taxes, he doesn't require any licensing of the sort, a lot of registration requirements unsettled, in some cases resources are given to them. It indefinitely can preserve such a culture, but what I ask at least where I live (remember I suppose it can be different anywhere else in the world) people misuse such privileges of race or religion as they were meant to preservative such culture, to instead be as anyone else here but with such benefits. Stores of Indian reserves for example have a higher customer amount than other stores as they have such advantages with tax rates and no inspection to sell goods such as gasoline or cigarettes at discounted prices to other companies. But at the same time, you also at least in my education system African-Canadians have quite a few beneifits of blaming teachers of being racist to pass a grade, or with their special PSA type of support members specifically for Africans and the fact they can have help at any moment, essentially saying the ideal of them being less educated.

But then on the other side you have such racial injustice as the jail system as Ron Paul likes to bring up a lot, where black people aren't given proper trials than white people, often a higher percentage going to jail than comparatively to white, it's a long list of either or. What you have to understand is just like the bullying movements, the sexual preference movements, the sexism movements, the abstinence movements all going throughout our mainstream society, they have quite long goals of which are sometimes problematic so all I say is be aware of both positives and negatives, and be aware everyone has the right to formulate opinions on another race no matter how wrong it sounds, it's how the human mind thinks unfortunately.

I'm black and come from Zimbabwe (been living in UK ever since 2001) and have experienced some racism towards me (specially when I'm looking for the job i'm qualified to do which is a computer systems administrator - so I have to work in PC world - lol) but not on this level, Wow
