Interested in buying a cooler

No you normally buy those if your psu doesn't have a P4 connection.

You just need a straight extension cables like these:-

You're looking for PSU extension cables. Can you post a piccie of what you have got so far, including the psu so we can see how short the cables are.

Noah, not really, it took me 3 hours to get the mb, dvdrom and hdd in place till i found out that i don't have a long enough p4 and p1 cable and i don't have screws for the fans xD . I have screws now but i have to place everything back in the old case so that i have a usable pc till i get extension cables

Here's my progress

[Edit]

Reply is to an earlier post xD , but pics are good.

That's looking pretty good. I'd put the hard drive right at the bottom, that way the incoming air will feed your cpu and graphics card better, and you can tuck the excess sata power and data cables underneath it.

You might be able to put the cables from your fans behind the motherboard, through the retention plate hole. That way they will be hidden as well.

Once you've done it a few times you'll get the hang of it, and it'll give you more confidence as for your next build and so on. Keep up the good work, for a first time getting your hands dirty it looks pretty good.

Thnx a lot

, i put everything back in the old case till i get me the extension cables and when i get 'em and assemble the whole thing i'll post some more photos.

Cool, I was wondering what you were up to. Thought that you may have given up - glad that you're perservering...

I would have hoped the temps should drop to around 30-40 depending on your ambient - so yeah 60 is a little on the high side. If you have a look in your bios do you have any speed adjustment options? What fan config did you end up with? Are there any cables at the front restricting the airflow from the front fan?

Well there are quite a few cables in the front side that might block an air stream. I'm thinking maybe the fans should face the other war like putting cool air in the case instead of taking hot air out cuz it doesn't seem to take much out in this case. Also i think i also should be doing a heat sync but i don't know how.

But my biggest problem is that now, when i play a game, i see many horizontal stripes flickering and i have no ideea from what that might be. I'm affraid that the video card might be damaged but i can't see what could have damaged it cuz i did everything like last time i worked with it. Any ideea what might cause the flickerings?

The front fan and the side fan should be set up as intakes. The rear fan and the top fan should be set as exhausts. Check all your cable connections are sound on the graphics card including any power cables.

I did some more looking into it.

First i thought it's from the screws i used to fasten the fans to the case, probably doing some field of some sort, and i took 'em out. It turned out it's not from the screws.

Then i changed my current video card with an older one thinking this one might have some sort of problem, that i might have damaged it, the old video card did the same kind of horizontal flickering only that this time they were fader but you could still see them.

So my conclusion if that the flickering is caused either by the case (i know, it sounds dumb)(who knows, maybe the screws or the copper standoffs) or by one of the extension cables i attached to the motherboard.

Have you tried swapping out the monitor cable? Does your graphics card use a power connector? If so make sure that its not on the same cable as your hard drive.

Well, i don't have other monitor cables besides this one.

geforce 250gts does have a power connector, geforce 9500gt does not but they both show flickerings only that 9500gt gives fader ones.

I don't know what you mean by not being on the same cables as the hdd :-/ .

I have a pair of headphones on top of the pc case which is on the left of the monitor and i have 2 speakers on the right of the monitor they were always there and never did any problems with the old case.

More than that, i switched to my old pc case and it seemed to be all right, now i switched back to the new case and i have the stripes again. I even left the extension cables attached on the old case and it was still fine. Could it be the psu is too close to the gpu and makes some sort of field? Or could it be from the case material or screws used or the copper standoffs? Otherwise you could say the case is evil

The standoffs are brass & non conductive. Have you tried unbunching the collection of wires that come out of the power supply. When loads of wires are collected together it can sometimes cause interference. Must admit it's a new one on me.
