Intel's commissioned i9-9900K gaming benchmarks are reportedly misleading

I know this whole thing may be made up... but I really wouldn't put it past Intel to do this.

It's not made up. They have covered their asses saying it is a paid for advert basically.

I know that Aus guy said he would not break NDA but I damn well would. Mainly to stop the flow of BS before it really does fool people into buying too early.

Every one knows how they are going to perform any way. Same old sh*t, different core count.

Misleading is just a cute way of saying fraud. Intel committed fraud again.

You obs haven't lived in the USA....

Seriously the call centre I used to work at was pure 100% bs. They used to scare old people into buying something for bird flu (just some vitamins) and etc. It almost destroyed my soul working there.

Karma's a bitch though, and recently she (my old boss) finally stepped over the mark and got slapped with a $5.5m fine.

That's the sad thing about the US, Everything is about money and that's not a healthy way to live.

Actually it was $6.5m. I have no idea how she intends to pay it, as I don't think she is worth that much. If she is? then IDK why she lived in crappy Sewell NJ.

BTW I know most of you are probably thinking "what does this have to do with anything?" well read this..

And note - Dietary supplement marketers.

So in this instance? these fools getting paid to put out these BS reviews? they will be held accountable, not Intel. Intel can just blame it all on them and walk away scott free.

Update. Apparently the 2700X was ran with ThreadRipper's 'Game Mode' enabled disabling one CCX essentially running it as a Quad Core

The ride never ends...

Just came to post this. I think I'm giving up on Intel. At this stage they are an abhorrent company. I said this on Facebook on Hardware Unboxed' post, I'm not an anti-establishment person. I trust that people can do good things. But Intel have repeatedly proven they are not a company I want to support.

Intel's desperation is just laughable. I do not understand how such a powerful company could be reduced to this.

Same, I'm actually selling my 8700K + mobo soon and sticking my 2700X I've had in my render box into my main rig, Intel and Nvidia are no go companies for me now.

Zen 2 can't come soon enough. When it does, Intel's only leadership (clock speed and IPC) could be dramatically weakened. 10nm will leap them forward again, but not 'till the end of next year, and the damage will have been done by then. I know that Intel are going to remain giants because desktop processors for us enthusiasts are just a small segment of their massive pool of products and income, but I truly hope that the consequences of their actions make them rethink their borderline immoral behaviour.

I gave up on Intel during the original Athlon launch. Remember getting an Asus board in a plain white box because they did not want to annoy Intel!

They all do this. What they should actually do is set the ram speed to what is on Intel ARK. 2666 is the rated speed for this processor according to ARK and AMD lists 2933. No manufacturer is going to refund you because you bought anything over the listed specs of your processor, Sorry sir, yes your motherboard does support 2000000ghz ram but your processor only supports 2666 according to its manufacturer, next time please select compatible products.

I cannot wait to see actual benchmarks where we don't have a company telling them make sure ours outshines the competitor. I've no doubt this will out perform the ryzen by a margin, but no where near as much as they have made out, certainly not 300 quid margin mind you.

They've always been like this dude. Trust me, I used to deal with them directly in the late 90s and nothing has changed at all. They thrive on arrogance, and are one of those types that would be backed into a corner, yet still tell lies because they think they sound better than the truth. Compulsive liars.

They thrive on arrogance, something very sadly rife in the world of computing. See also the "N word". lol I may call them that now ("The N word") as I find it equally as offensive in this day and age :D )

I've had all sorts of insults and insinuations thrown at me over the years (about being an AMD fanboy etc etc). Nah, I just know Intel first hand. Like the time they told me if we stocked any AMD CPUs we could not be one of their "trusted partners". Or how about the time they told us if they found out we were selling OC CPUs or instructing customers how to OC they would strike us off completely and black list us so we never got another Intel CPU again.

If you were wondering what a trusted partner was? some one who the Intel rep comes to every couple of months and greases their palm with free CPUs and ES etc.

Yeah Gamernexus showed up on their doorstep and conducted a 45minute interview

Interesting outcome

Quite alot disputed, median vs average. They used a Noctua cooler than is NOT compatible with threadripper etc.

If you look at all the microexpressions from Mark @ PT, he new he was busted.

Not many answers from them tbh and he was very on edge, (understandable).
It is damnable that Intel can get away with this, they need to be held accountable, they commissioned the tests and no doubt insisted certain criteria to ensure very favourable results. Nobody with half a brain cell would test like this ever, unless paid to do so.

Some of that interview was a little bit of a shock jock ambush. He was asking the technical questions to a company mouthpiece. He may have been the owner, but just taking off the cuff questions, he would never have the answer too. It would not be fair to expect them to. I'm glad GN talked to them, and pointed out some errors. I would really like to see a followup in a couple of weeks.

I will assume since Intel claimed to have similar results in their lab, I would almost guess they sent out script with the CPU for the test person to follow, including settings. They did what they were paid to do. Nvidia has done something similar many times. I does not shock me.
