Intel Skulltrail To Arrive February 08

WOW, 4 PCi-Express. Now that what I call motherboard.

Would it be able to have 4*9800GX2 which would be like 8-way Sli??

Likelyhood is u wouldn`t buy this for the home.

This sucker, and other suckers like it, will cost in excess of $650. Which unfortunately will equate to ~£500+ as it`s not the home sector. Add to that 2x 771 processors.

Now if u were in the states on holiday ...

.. unless u can already afford 4*9800GX2.

I am slightly confused tho, cos it doesn`t 100% look like a work-server-ish totally in it`s features.

SMP use 8 cores ?

it looks SWEET

imagine that running ubuntu, with 8gb of ram, 64 bit, and folding under 8 core's

you'd get a WU done every 2 - 3 hours *drools*

Glad u pointed out the memory.

Last time I looked at these kind of boards they had 2 sets of memory banks, I`d presume a bank for each cpu.

It would seem the 1 bank serves the 2 cpus, unless slots are allocated.

That all depends on the drivers (and your wallet) as the old gx2 worked well in single config but when paired up in sli giving 'quad sli' things just fell apart!

I'm sooo getting one of these for my birthday in april. Don't want those core2extremes though Ill just get some xeons or quads depending on what slot type it uses :@ WC'ing ftw.

I think there will be a lot more made though, it'll be a big hit with people who want top line performance and overclockers, benchers etc etc

To answer above the GX2's only got ONE sli connector, so quad SLI is the max.

I don't know if quad sli can be done with 4 single cards though. I don't think so. So tri-sli with 3 ultras/gtxs or quad sli with the GX2's.

That will be some rig mate, look forward to seeing you in the hwbot thread ;)

It uses socket 771 so you are limited with your cpu choice and think they are pricey...

2 x instances certainly would.

Yeah the Skulltrail is certainly a beast, and as Rast and Smiffy have pointed out it's not really aimed at the home user. Although I'm sure OC3D could certainly utilise its processing power :D
