Intel Sandy Bridge Design May Limit Overclocking

I'm guessing that motherboard manufacturers may decide to do something clever in the bios, possibly with a non chipset based clock generator for the extras. Alternatively intel may decide to only implement this on the gx1-px5 (or whatever) board.

Ahh linkage to one of my old stories.. Nice.

Think I still have Francois's business card floating around here somewhere from that Nehalem press thing.

Anyway, yeah, after the same thing being said for Nehalem, I think I'll just wait and see before making comment.

Yeah I remember now, the whole no more than TDP usage. Then again maybe we'll see the release of overclockable HDs?

It will suck if they do. But if they do they'll lose buyers. (Us :P) So I think they'll try to find a way around. And from what I've heard the i7's were supposed to be limited as well, but they're not.
