News is from HWBOT, one of the 7 chipsets is the x58 replacement, another three are sandybridge replacements, and the last three are business orientated.

Hmmn theres goes my upgrade plans...........

x58 was probably gonna be my choice, but looking at that better to wait a couple month and see what the z68 is gonna be like.

.....Eh F***, should I go with the P67 or wait for Z68, then will be Z79 but I don't think I will wait for the 8-core :T Kinda seems like that would be overkill for most PC games I would play. Any knew on if Z68 will have an unlocked Hex core?

Z68 is literally round the corner, Aria even have a competition running currently for a Z68 mobo, at least that's all I think it could be as they used an X instead of the chipset, see here. It's unlikely that a Hex-core CPU will be released with Z68 but as it's so close there's no harm in waiting.

As for Z7x they're too far away to even consider for a build yet.

Rough outline so far

From what I had seen z68 is the new p67 but that can use the Igp and overclock.

X79 is the x58 replacement that is getting the ivybridge hex cores. Then next year they are releasing the mainstream versions on the same naming scheme, so the 68 becomes 77 and the h67 becomes 75 and so on.

The other 3 are server choosers so of little interest to most.

Wait, I thought Z79 was gonna have the new Intel 8-core cpu? So sense Z68 is gonna be a step up from p67 I figured they would at least have a Hex core sense p67 flagship cpu was just a Quad core and sense Z79 will have there 8 core I just think it would not be unreasonable to have a Hex core for Z68

i havent seen any solid info saying octo core cpu are coming from intel any time soon, no doubt they will but not yet.

from what i have seen its quads for the z68 and hex for the x79.

God damn it Intel, why so many chipsets? you have people saving for one then you announce another being released shortly after

Anyone know if Z68 will have support for the new PCI 16X 3.0 slots?

PCI 3.0 I'm thinking will come in with X79 (LGA2011) Z68 is not going to be that different from P67, just small changes rather then new technology

well that's what it seems like anyway
