Is it possible to overclock an Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0Ghz chip (with HT) ??

I'm just trying to gain a bit more speed out of my existing system. - Or would this depend on the capability of my motherboard ??

Thanks

Daniel

That processor is highly overclockable... You could see some major performance gains from a healthy bump in speed.

Post up your PC specs so we can get you started on the right path!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure of the board at the moment - I will have to have a look inside.

It is a Dell Dimension 3100 pre-built PC. - I'm not sure if the motherboards they supply are always the same in this model ??

Thanks

Daniel

Awwww crap mate... Can't overclock on those I'm afraid. They have custom worked up BIOS's that don't allow for modification (they've done this for warranty purposes).

Looks like we'll just have to spec you a new PC! :D How much u lookin' to spend? :p

Thanks anyway.

I wasn't looking at replacing the PC, just to get a bit more out of it (if possible).

I don't normally buy branded PC - I normally build them myself, but this was only £200 about 8 months ago, which was a bargain.

Thanks

Daniel
