Just a quick question regarding the above.

To gain best performance from a raid set-up on Intel chipset - are these drivers essential?

yes - instal the matrix storage manager for windows (includes app and drivers)...

once all installed go to the Intel Matrix storage console, choose advanced view, select your raid array and right click on it - enable the option 'Enable volume write back cache' for a nice boost in hdd raid performance

gives a nice boost to benchies as well ;)

Just the answer I was hoping for - downloading now, will report back on my current CPC thread.

What I did not want to do was fatten up the installed applications on the bench set-up only to find it had no benefit or (worse) slowed things down as well.

its deffo worth installing and checking the option ;)

you can even msconfig and get rid of the start up process it adds...you just need the app on to enable write back caching ;)
