Intel H57 BIOS Locked

Greetings, I've been wanting to OverClock my CPU but since my PC is factory made they locked the BIOS so I can either buy a new motherboard or a new CPU.

And I've started to play CPU hungry games and I7 860 non-OCed is not doing it anymore =(.


Here's my question:
Should I buy a new CPU (LGA1156) or a new Motherboard and if motherboard which one would fit my current set up? I'm not 1 of the best in the PC build world so I'm having a really hard time on this =/.

Get a new motherboard if you want to over clock anything.
Unsure what you already have but assuming it's not all that great.
The cpu itself should be ok for over clocking.
The main problem you'll have is getting a 1156 motherboard.

What games would you be playing on that and having trouble with the cpu anyway?
As a gamer myself, seem to be fine on almost any game with only an i5 760.

But also, psu looks suspect mate. Don't put a high-end card on it. 18A on each rail.. hmm a GTX680 draws roughly 16.5a at stock iirc (actual use not reccomended spec from nvidia which is something like 38A on 12v rail). I suppose you could have each connector from a different rail, but factor in age of the psu and it's not looking good. Plus since it's a pre build it's highly likely it's a BS one.

Usually with oem pcs they have specific things on the mobo/psu to integrate with the case (as in, proprietary, not standard), this is true for Dell anyway. This makes upgrading them hard tbh..
