That's only really for pretty specialized tasks though. Normal day to day usage will be pretty much the same.

Na not really... Even things like Nero are going to see big ol jumps as long as they create Nero 9 or whatever properly.

Applications that like 8 threads are pretty rare. Not even the Windows kernel fits that bill.

Not a surprise for windows... Thing is when they are available, serious rendering and encoding programs will use them.

Even on programs that don't, the architectural improvements will see a gain over Core 2.
