"An increasing number of people within the industry have access to Intel Ivy Bridge engineering samples. Some of them are generous enough to share performance details with the public. One such kind soul posted 3DMark, Fritz Chess, and Cinebench test results. An Intel Core i7-3770 sample was the test candidate, this chip has all components and features available to Ivy Bridge LGA1155 enabled, including HyperThreading, a faster uncore, and the full 8 MB L3 cache. The chip was put through 3DMark 06 (to test its CPU and iGPU performance), Cinebench 11.5 (both single-thread and multi-threaded), and Fritz Chess Benchmark (again, both single and multiple threads)."

They should have put it up against a 2600k so we can see how much of a performance difference there is.

I wonder what motherboard they were using as well and if it it was a Z77 one using some of the Z77 features or if it was a Z68/P67 board. Nice to see more and more leaks are starting to emerge though.

it looks cluttered!!!!

wouldn't it be nice to have an AIO app that does it all, and is neatly layed out (and also looks fantastic)

They should have put it up against a 2600k so we can see how much of a performance difference there is.

I would not expect too much. I've read numbers like ~15% performance increase. intel obviously uses this toc to reduce power consumption rather than cannibalise SB-E which they propably could do would they go for higher default clocks.

I personally like the reduction of power consumption. Others would prefer sheer POWA!!!
 
Yeah, the performance increase isn't much but it would be good to see it on paper, or should I say screenshots

The lower TDP and voltage is what will make IB good but it also means you can push them harder because of the lower voltage at stock giving it more overclock headroom.
 
the shrink isnt going to bring a massive increase to the cpu core with ib, as said maybe 15% if we are lucky but what it will bring is lower temps and higher oc headroom.

the big thing intel have done is with the igp so they can try and cut amd off with llano as they dont want to be seen to be losing ground on them in any sector of the market.
