Intel confirms planned branding changes - Is the Core i series finished?

wow.. with all the big problems intel facing they find time and rescources to rebrand.

i am sure that will fix everything.... :D

With all the "leaks" lately showing Meteorlake first coming to laptops and in Q1 next year coming to the desktop, I'm curious if the Raptorlake Refresh in Q3 this year will keep the "Core i" branding or go with the new "Core Ultra" branding.

We will provide more details regarding these exciting changes in the coming weeks!
Marketing language is so cringe "these exciting changes", there's nothing exciting regarding an name change lol...

This has been needed for years. Their branding is still very confusing, the numbers even more so.

Logos and brand changes are actually exciting for quite a large crowd. Especially if you work on the stock market. Rebrands can return positive values from a slump.

:D

i rather have 3,5,7,9 indicating performance tiers... then super, hyper, ultra, mega. ;)

Yeah but we all know that isn't the problem. The problem is when they do 10 CPUs in one stack. Like 12100. 12100F and so on.

A while ago GN did an article on the naming. Some of them were so long they are hard to pronounce. Even AMD have been doing the same. Why? is just a mystery lost on me. They really don't need so many products or such ridiculous long names.

So they are going the route Apple and so many others have gone with the whole "Pro, Max, Ultra, Max Ultra, Pro Max, Super Hyper Mega Godlike Storm Edition" Numbers are not enough, we need to use silly gimmicky words as well".

They most likely do to cover essentially the entire price range and hence leave little to no room for their competitor. This is atleast what GN said in a video a while back.

Oh yeah, I am not arguing that. It's the naming and branding that has become confusing.

There was no I9* until a few years back. All of a sudden they added that and more confusing names. Like 13900K. Then 13900KF and so on. When really it should have just been "I9 with onboard" and vice versa.

*I9 actually existed in and around 2008 when Intel were paranoid about Bulldozer. At the time the max CPU they made was a I7 920 which was 4 core 8 thread. Later they released a 6 core 12 thread I7 970 and 980 etc, but they were reserving the I9 branding for it to make it sound better. Turns out BD was crap and they didn't need to.

Aye pretty much. Can guarantee managers at Currys are telling their staff to push the whole 'Ultra' gimmick in their sales pitches as well.

just replacing "core" with "ultra" or even worse a bunch of such buzzwords (hyper, super) will not fix that.

ok i don´t think intel will do that.

but how to make the different performance categorys more clear then?

having an ultra 14000K, ultra 14100, ultra 14900KF... does not change much.

at least with the numbers i instantly knew if the cpu belongs to the top, middle or bottom of the lineup.

How do you know they are even going to stick with model numbers after the name?

I knew a company that used to sell three things. They were titled "Good, better and best".

it´s possible.. but you said you wanted it simpler. :)
so i guess you wanted the numbers gone.
