This is NOT an excuse for a flame war. Please dont go off at tangents about the quality of either companies products, try and keep the conversation focussed, but general..you`ll see what I mean by that.
I`ve not been into computing for the longest time, but from what I can remember, I`ve never seen so much propaganda- not so much for the current gear (available or soon to be released) but for whats coming next.
It feels like both Intel and AMD are releasing tons of appealing tid-bits to keep us interested in whats coming next. Is this to put us off the competitors current offerings, or showing that they have no faith in what they have?
Why should we upgrade if both companies are showing how great the next stuff will be? They both seem to be pushing to have the next great stuff out in 6 months, and that doesnt seem to be a speedbump- its more new architecture. Fair enough, AMD are due new architecture, and Intel are about to bring out theirs, so..what are we supposed to do? switch companies and rigs every 6 months? Thats a bigger jump than new GPUs every 6-7 months...
so...which way to turn, who to believe and when to jump?
