Intel 6-core 'Dunnington' to come?

phwor, we dont need this

intel should just settle down, and do what amd did, keep re-releasing the same processor over and over again, we've got the speed now, and just make it more and more energy efficient each time, until software catches up, then kick it up a knotch again

EDIT: would also give AMD a chance to catch up

That is stupid why do they always do this? There is no need for new hardware YET. They have not even mastered the Quad Core yet, apparently there has been some bugs within AMD and INTEL.

Trying to waste our money for nothing? Most software and games don't even support Dual Core... Quad is out of the question in most cases... Now HEX CORE....

Come on INTEL... Your over doing it now!

to give time between upgrades...

things have accelerated too fast in the last few years, you need to slow it down, so things dont go out of date so quick, devaluation is taking the

now

Considering I've never gotten past dual core, to see an article say "the old quad cores" is slightly unnerving

I dont really see what the problem with 6cores is? People are paying £600+ for extremes now atleast adding something decent to them isnt that bad of a thing is it?

why anyone would ask for tech stuff to be slowed down is beyond me.

Have you seen Terminator...

On a more serious note. Isn't the 6 core architecture much better. As in, it has 6 seperate cores rather than the 2x2cores the quad has?

If The technology is there to make it harder, better, stronger, and faster. Why not utilise it.

pfft and the rest :p

Be quietly amuzed at how fast a single core processor they could make these days.

What I mean by that is, with the cpu, present itself to the mobo/pc as a single core (or 2 core if we think programmers are up to it), but cunningly on the chip, it branches into 4 or 6 cores without the OS even knowing about it - or even having to know about it. So it does the business of sharing the load, that seems to be an issue for the software guys, without them needing to take off their blinkers.

Be a beast.
