In search of a 4x AGP video card, what's best?

Ok guys, I'm looking to get a bit more oomph out of this computer I'm using. Mainly just to play WoW. Don't need anything too terribly extravagant, but something with a heck of a lot more horsepower than this FX5200.

What do you suggest? I believe the motherboard supports only 2x/4x AGP, which means a 4x/8x card wouldn't even fit the slot correct?

I don't remember which mobo it has off the top of my head, but it's an Intel board sporting the 845 chipset made for VPR Matrix.

Any suggestions?

Edit: After some research, it looks like the FX5200 is a 8x/4x card itself, so I should be golden... Any ideas? X800? X1650 Pro? What shall I do?

This is rather tempting... thoughts?

Actually this one got better reviews, same price really, and has 512mb of ram...

Edit:

Ok jumped the gun and decided to order up a Sapphire X1650Pro w/ GDDR3 instead of GDDR2 that the HIS's had, same price :) Also ordered 2gb of RAM and a new heatsink because the fan on the current heatsink sounds aweful and will probably die shortly. I might actually be able to consider running Vista again!

Frag in time this machine will end up being a monster.. again! :p

lol, not quite, but definitely usable. I can at least keep on playing WoW over my sat connection at the least :)

why would any one want to play WoW over that connection? It's as laggy as hell over my works les10, let alone at home on adsl.

The best part about WoW is that it lags more on the server side than the client side. I have 0 problems playing WoW with a 3 second ping, one of the reasons I'm sticking with it. :) Maybe the Euro servers are setup differently.

Looking at those two cards.

They're both GDDR2, but the one with 512mb is likely to have looser timings so may even perform worse than the other one. 512mb just isn't needed on cards like these as they simply don't push the pixels to warrant needing that much memory.

Also the 256 card has a sweet-ass cooler which will be much better than the other stock one

This is the one I ended up going with: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102057

GDDR3 FTW :)

I was gonna suggest waiting for the AGP HD2600s...

Prolly be out of my price range for this puter mate, I wanted to stay in the sub-$100 range, and I almost made it.

I would have tried to get something with a little more umph like a 7800GS or a 7950GT AGP :) But you wont find those for about 100 lol. What is it socket 478? I got a board you can have if you can use it.

Soyo Dragon Ultra Lite. Idk what you have now so it might or might not be better.

EDIT: Ahahah i just reaized thats an AGP card that supports Crossfire. Wtf!!

frag an 8X AGP card will work in a 4X slot, it will just work at a 4X speed. its backwards compatible im 99% sure

PP, is that an AGP board as well? Overclockable? If so I might take you up on that. This current Intel board doesn't let me clock AT ALL.

Yeah I think Newegg went retarded on that listing, there's obviously no dual AGP boards for it to work on, hehe.

Thanks for that mate, appreciate the verification.

8xAGP pro, 3 DDR slots, and yes overclockable. I cant really say for sure how much becasue i havent used it in forever. I also dont have the original box to it either so i wold be shipping it in a Soyo Dragon Ultra PE box (AMD lol).

I have no means of digital moolah, ill just ship it for ya no big. Oh yea, I cant gaurantee if it will work or not, so cross your fingers. I have no way of testing it at all.

Ah thanks mate, appreciate the hell out of it.

No problem on the testing, that I can take care of, how can I argue with a free mobo in either condition? hehe

Lol well it gets it outa my closet. Its been sitting in the same place for about 2 years in an anti static bag. Should be fine, but yet again no promises.
