I have a new rig core i7 3930k and a gtx 580

Im returning to folding again as i had a problem with my gts450

im getting 30k+ ppd

Are you folding both your CPU and GPU? You should be getting 50K+ PPD with that combo

Like yassarikhan786 says, you should be getting more than 30k PPD with that set up.

Let us know what your running and we will see if you can get a few extra points

i was getting 40k on the smp but today it droped to the same as the gfx

I was told that running both the CPU and GPU at the same time kills the CPU PPD. If you run -advmethods on the GPU, the CPU shouldn't be affected as much. This worked for me, but the GPU temperature increased a lot so I started folding regular units on the GPU again.
