Hey guys. I've contacted Tim at idnet and sent him a tracert. He is investigating now. Thanks :)

Anyone else still having problems with their IDnet connection. It's really weird. Can only get about 20% of websites (e.g. this being one). Can also get MSN Messenger and Hotmail. Outgoing SMTP is ok but incoming POP3 is not. Thought at first it was a DNS problem but I've ruled that out. Any ideas?

Ok i've got a slight problem, I can't actually ping out, or tracert for that matter, I can ping as far as IDNets DNS servers but then I get nothing. Do IDNet's DNS not allow pings?

I can tracert to their DNS server. I can get about eight websites, including this, Google UK and a few other random ones, e.g. Scottish Power. Can't get my usual ones such as BBC. Seems weird as there's no logic to it. But as Davos said, IDNet are aware and working on it. It's been down for about 4 hours here.

I get no DNS, I can visit regular sites, but not others, had no dns since lunchtime tbh, Although if it is DNS, I'll probably just put in some of Zen's or Eclipse's until IDs are back up.

I've tried 212.69.40.3 but still no joy.

I tried a tracert to www.bbc.co.uk (which normally works) and got no response. I then did a tracert to 212.58.224.85 (bbc's IP) and also got no response, whch suggests it's not just DNS. As I said earlier it's resoving the names of a few websites ok but the majority are out either via domain name or IP address.

Well seeing as their address is 212.58.224.83 your not off to a good start :p. But I agree it's not just DNS.

I was going to use an external 56k modem for a bit, but then i realised i don't have any COM ports on my PC anymore  Oh, how times have changed ;)

I was thinking of hooking up my old 56k, but its so much hassle and so bloody slow I don't think I'll bother :p

Hopefully your problems will be resolved soon. IDNet have a great team and I'm sure Simon and the rest of the crew will pull an all nighter if that's what it takes to get it running correctly again.
