Ideas for a Budget ( Up To £850 ) PC Build

The Orange One

Ok. Soon I Will be building a rig for myself. As some of you may know, I Was nearly ready for a 3930K, 3 680 Build, but unfortunately, the Money had to be Spent on Keeping a roof over my Head.

It Will be used for Gaming, and some Video Editing on Sony Vegas. If any of you could give me a hand with part selection, it would mean a lot to me.

Thanks,

Will

P.S : If needed, I MAY be able to stretch my budget to £900 If the Parts seem Worth It.

i5 3570k

Asus P8Z77-M PRO

Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB

GTX 670

Corsair Force 3 120 GB

Corsair Carbide 400R

be quiet pure power 630w

Antec H2O 620

Depending on how much video editing you do the ram is a bit overkill, so you can downgrade that and get a storage drive instead.

I hope the prices are more or less the same in Switzerland and where you live: this config is around 1300CHF=870GBP=1300USD

What about storage?

How much video editing will you be doing? If it's quite a lot you'll want an i7, if it's only a little it will be wiser to go with an i5. Also, do you already have a copy of Win7?

EDIT: Made a couple builds up...

I7 3770K

MSI Z77 GD55

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo

MSI GTX 560 Ti

Mushkin Blackline 8GB 1600MHz 1.5V

Fractal Design Arc Midi

128GB Samsung 830 (or a 64GB if you don't need the extra space for OS and programmes etc...)

500GB WD Caviar Blue

Be Quiet Pure Power L8 CM 630W (might be able to squeeze 530W into it on both systems)

Or...

I5 3570K

MSI Z77 GD55

Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo

Sapphire HD 7870

Mushkin Blackline 8GB 1600MHz 1.5V

Both come smack bang on the £850 mark

What about storage?
As I said, I've added quite an expensive ram kit, if he goes with with a 2x4GB kit and does get a cheaper aftermarket cpu cooler he can easily buy a storage drive, I personally don't need that much space in my rig, all my movies and music is stored externally.

Even though that system would still be going on for a £1000 build

Have you got an aftermarket cooler if you plan on overclocking?

Have you HDDs you can re-use?

With this budget it will be a trade off between the i7 or a better GPU.

I.e. if you care more about the editing then go i7 with a 7870

If you care more about gaming then go i5 with 670/7950.

If you need aftermarket cooling then it's going to be i5 with a 7870.

1. I've already got a H100 From an Old Build,

2. I've not got any HDD's I Can re-use

AND I will need a copy of Windows

Thanks everyone for your Help!

How much video editing are you going to be doing? If its only a little then a 3570k will be fine but if its a lot you might need a 3770k

How about this:

I think that trying to get an intel build is going to squeeze too much out of the budget for the GPU depending on other options.

An i5 build is going to be £280

an i7 £375

This 8120 build for £220. Stick the h100 on it and clock it up to 4.5GHz. It will be so much more performance than you need for gaming and will out perform the i5 for editing.

It's got a lot of storage which you may or may not want and only totals £800 but needs a case. You should be able to squeeze in a 7870 if you cut down on storage a little and get a fairly cheap case.
