ICFX 3200 - non booter!

I miss my max. It was faster in all bench's and seemed much higher quality.

I don't like this mobo and it doesn't like me. It's probably a learning curve and I'll love the icfx once it's set up, but for the moment I don't love it.

Memory issues are my main gripe. This dominator ram is rated for 1066, 5-5-5-15. So I set it at 533 in the bios, following Tony's guide I changed the timings - pretty conservatively, basically to dominator rated timings as dfi default is 5(cas)-8(ras to cas delay)-8(ras precharge)-26(tras)-32(trc).

If I manually change these settings in the bios to anything other than dfi auto the pc will not boot (error 50) or if I find some timings that will boot I get lots of errors in mem test.

I have been forced to run slightly oc'd, 2t at 5-8-8-26-32.

Same cpu oc (3.5) with current mem settings super pi 1m is 1 second slower and 32m is a minute slower!

Herr Schmidt: is your RAM PC-6400 (DDR2-800)? Also, does your BIOS allow you to see what speed your RAM is running before you set your changes (my last two mobos allow me to see my new speeds before saving and exiting)? Your latencies are really high, maybe the '533' you're running isn't the right setting... I'd look for 2:1 or 'Sync', which is what I have to run mine at so the RAM comes out at -/+800MHz.

If you have DDR2-667, you may want to go with a lower overclock of your FSB/core clock so you don't take your RAM too high.

Dominator is rated for 1066mhz - pc-?uberage.

Timings are slacker than a 60yr old rent boys ring piece.

I had ram issues on the max and the icfx... perhaps it's bad ram!

Hey Llywd,

I have given up, admitted defeat and I'm swapping my icfx with Jimbo for the commando...

Lets hope I get along with the commando ;)

Huh, and I thought I was the only person that ever called another person a 'wuss'...:D

Dude (Herr Schmidt), if you think you had problems with your RAM while using two different mobos, you could have RMA'd... I don't know the Commando from a hole in the ground, but giving up on an ABIT AW9D-MAX and then an ICFX 3200:eh: no way.

But, good luck with your future ventures...;)
