New product

POWER PC ョ c970mp

The IBM this day, the up-to-date product of the POWER Architecture based microprocessor * family, announced the POWER PC 970MP. The POWER PC 970MP is dual core * version of the IBM POWER PC 970FX microprocessor. The POWER PC 970MP low 64 bit symmetrical type multi-processing of the cost * high performance of 1.4 - 2.5 GHz (the SMP) the corresponding system is the microprocessor for the customer who is desired with the compact package. In addition, power saving function is loaded by this microprocessor, as for the system * architect utilizing this, it is possible to manage the electric power of the system dynamically.

Low energy Power PC processor is the 970FX (16 watt @ 1.6GHz -- High IPC rate)

Furthermore the IBM announced POWER PC 970FX economical electrical edition anew. This up-to-date microprocessor low 64 bit symmetrical type multi-processing of the cost which operates by electric power consumption of 20 watts or less * high performance (the SMP) is the product for the customer who the processor of correspondence is desired. When general workload is processed, operational electric power of the this new offering has become, the 13w (at the time of 1.4 GHz), the 16w (at the time of the 1.6gHz) with. In addition, power saving function is loaded by this microprocessor, as for the system * architect it is possible to manage the electric power of the system dynamically by the fact that this is adopted.

i think it will be used for servers or macs i don't think it's even x86
IBM power severs and their supercomputer clusters .. NOT MACS (they goin X86) possibly other non-computer devices (a tivo with one ofthere chips could play and encode high res Xvid/Divx @ the same time .. maybe consoles Note how Ninty havent revealed the processor Revolution will use

Its Power 5 Architecture .. currently the best <IMHO> processor architecture on the planet ... Power 5 is the basis of the cel processor (not the SPE units .. they are like vector shaders but the actual processing core)

yeah i know but they used to use their cpus for macs and will continue for another year i think before the x86 macs will start to ship
