i may have a bum cpu but im not giveing up on it.

evertime i change any thing the temp shut up if any 1 has any any tips plz let uz now thx:)

Just check his About Me Step

Motherboard: rampage ii extreme

CPU: i7 965 @ 320 GHZ

CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12P

GPU: 5970 2GB xfx black edition

Memory:Corsair Dominator-GT 2000MHz DDR3

PSU: xigmatek no rule power 1500w

Sound card: X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion

Optical Drives: LG dvd rom and a oem dvd burner with lightscribe

Hard Disk: 2 western digital 500gb caviar black drive and 1tb western digital caviar black

Fan Controller: zelman

Case: full tower thermaltake armor+

Have you made sure the mounting on the CPU is OK? Reseat the cooler, make sure you only use a thin layer of thermal paste. What voltage are you putting on it?

the cpu cooling is good at stock seting

voltage =1.2

temps at

idl =35

on load = 70.c

as soon as i tuch any thing the temp shoots up 80 90 100

mad lol

well the stock cooler is no good for OC hence the temps

invest in a good cooler so a noctua DH-14,then you can OC

i hate to disagree with anyone, but something else is going on with your CPU. those load temps are a tad bit high. i have always been able to get stable, reasonably high o/c's even with the junk stock coolers that come on i3 CPU's.

here is a little rule of thumb. running you memory multiplier at the correct ratio for your desired memory speed and cpu speed is critical in getting a good o/c at low voltage. temperature is the byproduct of voltage (that's why they are still called semiconductors).

you should be able to hit 4.0-4.3 ghz. well under the MAX cpu voltage, and you should be able to do that on the stock cooler.

what memory multiplier are you running? and then what uncore are you running?

rule of thumb for x58 is 1.8-2.0 memory to uncore

for example, let's say you have a memory ratio of 10, your uncore should be around 20

also the higher your memory multiplier, the lower you can pull that ratio

for example....a memory multiplier of 12 and you could pull your uncore down to around 22

this will equal less vtt for the same o/c of your CPU.....the downside will be a slight hit in memory fill rates and round trip latencies....

of course each CPU is luck of the draw, but you shouldn't be anywhere near the temperatures you are showing, with that low of a vtt on the CPU....

70c for 1.2 vtt is not normal....something else is going on....

if anything you might be under volting your CPU for the selected uncore/qpi/mem. multi

if you can tell me your settings in BIOS I might be able to help you diagnose if you in0fact do have a problem with your cooler/tim/cpu

chill fella no need to shout, temps seem very high i think your meant to stay in the low 70's,so re think the volts

Temps do seem a little toasty. Did you put a D14 on it??

If so thats warm mate!

Im assuming its the SE2 revision on the NH-U12P your using with the correct mounts if youve not fitted the D14

If you look at the review temps we did you'll find they were significantly lower than yours at higher settings.

Have you removed the cooler to check youve got a good seat between it and the CPU?

Wouldnt touch any volts till those temps are brought into line.

sorry i wasnt shouting just my caps lock is boned. lol im going to do a full check on the cooler 2 moz and see if i can change any thing. my cpu was oem if that make any difference but my temps went down on normal idl and load

thx for replying

ANY 1 GOT ANY IDERS??

everything you need to get a decent o/c has already been said in here

your voltage is WAY too high.....intel MAX for your chip is 1.4 vtt. also max temps at load should be around 68c

you keep asking for ideas, when the solutions have already been given to you
