I7-930 upgrade to i7-990x?

i run 930 at 4 GHz and i am thinking to upgrade to 990x and overclock it to 4.6 GHz, will i see big difference in games, winrar, video converting? thanks

Methinks you'd do better with a 3770k.

I'm not entirely sure why WinRAR would need such a CPU, but the 3770k should cover it.

Alternatively, for the same money as the 990X, you could pick yourself up a 3930k, and, whilst running WinRAR, you could also simulate the big bang in real time

You are wasting your money. 990x is still $1000, you can get a new ivy CPU 1155 with a new board for less than that and will offer equal if not better gaming performance and probably better overall performance.

for the money a 990X costs you can get a 3930k AND an Asus Maxumis IV extreme X79 board and have 200 euro left.

i know that i7 2600k better for games and 3930k better almost in any task. the reason why i do not want to buy a new 2011 or 1155 system because all my PC is water cooled and i do not want to rebuild my CPU loop again + i can get 990x for 500$ so can you please tell me if i will see some difference between 930 4 GHZ and 990x 4.6ghz thankx

Look for an i7 970/980 considering you already have the rest of the system, if you dont mind going 2nd hand you can pick up some real deals on them at the moment.
