Okay so yeah my 920 D0 is at 84 °C while prime is running room temp is around 19-20 I guess its -snip- cold in here

so ye spec

Bus speed 200 Multiplier 20

vcore 1.31875 " if I get any lower then I get a 3b BSOD

cooler am using the Noctua d-14 so dont really understand why is at 84 °C

so yeah help me out here please..

could be a cpuile things first off ya might of lost the silicon lotto and have a hot cpu but before we go there try reseating the D-14 and see if that does anything. also check that the temp monitoring software ur using is up to date

Yeah I will try to remount the thing again

using Real Temp 3.6 dont think there is a new version out yet

ok good so remount it and report back what ya see. but seeing as ya have to push the volts a tad more than most I'm thinking it may be the lotto failed ya. But we shall see

did the remounting twice now still same around 80+

trying to see temp at stock atm and runs around 62 and that seem pretty high for stock since tinytomlogan were able to keep his 920 at 68 at vcore 1.35

I was thinking if there any problems with showing the right temps on the Asus Rampage II Gene

but dont think thats the case its just really weird

tried with the cpu just a stock settings and got

idle 44 with stock cooler load its topping prime 97 c ish something insane

noctua is running idle at 37 really cold in here now had to turn on the heat and at full its what 65c so wondering if the sensor on the board is wrong or something

your are clearing all the thermal paste off it and reapplying when you reseat your noctua? have you tried using hwmonitor instead?

yea I do clear it all off and reapply

did just have a go at hwmonitor says the same gonna try to build the pc not in a case and see if the temp drops that much but am really lost for what to do now

Be certain to check the mounting is correct. There's been a few times I've switched out a cpu for testing *thinking* I've got it right and had to do it again. Temps are a big give away.

okay on my laptop atm put the stock intel cooler on the try and see what kinda temp am getting

idle it was 42

load 81 so that seems about right for ones

gonna try to mount the d-14 again I let u know in about 15 min but with stock cooler it seems about right dont u think?

ofc this is a 2.67 ghz

that sounds about right tbh,

i run my 920 D0 at 4.2 1.32v and get them sort of temps with a silver arrow and that isn't that far off a D14

when tom does his tests with the d14 he uses the same thermal compound and if i remember correctly he uses 1.25v

so here we go second attempt this time doing 190x21 I know the last multiple is normally for the boost so guess it will get going on and off all the time (please tell me if am wrong)

good news is at the moment with prime on running at 1.25 Vcore and without HT is running at 68 °C

unless apps that can use/needs more than 4 cores is important to you then you wont lose much.

are you sure the BSOD you were getting with 200x20 below 1.131v was to do with your CPU and not ram?

was with 1.31 not 1.13 else I be a very lucky man but was was getting 3b and 1E and they normally means more Vcore, also did a 30 min Memtest and there was nothing to see so

whoops

typo

lol

yep they do tend to be vcore related errors
