No, no... you need the 6 core

With the above in mind would anyone like to put a deposit down on a previously owned kidney? Maybe and arm, a leg perhaps? I'd need to hold on to the arm until the build is complete mind![]()

At least you've got your priorities right - keeping hold of your nuts...![]()
Actually I'd been popping money into the car fund to mod that this summer, however a back injury has left me basically unable to drive without doing myself a mischieve, at least for a while, so the funds are there for PC stuff potentially...erm, when my back lets me actually build a new PC that is - which is should be by the time this stuff comes out![]()

Dude I sympathise - nothing worse than a bad back. I've had one for years - but physio & swimming every week - touch wood - has meant that I haven't had any episodes in a while.
Cheers mate. I'd not really had any issues other than the odd blip for years, generally being quite active & doing regular workout with certain exercises specifically for my back. However after an accident at work last year my back just deteriorated and none of my usual things helped. I've been having physio & have "homework" to do every day involving a physio ball, plus I'm up the hospital soon for "proper" physio, having had some at my surgery already. Fingers crossed I'll be back on form soon, sadly had to write off this summer activity-wise for the most part.
But yeah, backs can be a nightmare when they play up - I wasn't actually able to walk for a couple of week & can do that ok now, once I get moving![]()

Keep popping the ibuprofen.![]()
Think I'll wait for 22nm Sandy Bridge-E or equivalent. Whatever the performance part will end up being in 22nm.
Yeah, I think (with both you and I having a 2500k) that our CPU's will be more than enough for whatever we throw at them for the foreseeable future, meaning we could easily wait for IB before upgrading. However that's assuming we're even remotely sensible about it, sometimes the urge to upgrade is just there. I didn't imagine my SB build would be quite as good as it is as I'd always thought of this as an interim build - that's why I'm quite torn about what to do with my next build. Ah well.
Cheers,
Scoob.
The 3960x will probably cost 850-900£ here in Norway. Wish we had more equal prizes![]()
Games very rarely use/need more then 90% of my 2500K, Will these new processors actually increase your FPS that much to be worth the money?
I was originally planning two builds:
1)A server/ media center PC
2)A high end gaming PC
I decided to build my server with the 2500k and a P8P67 PRO but then overclock it and stick in some 580's so it could service my gaming needs until the replacement to 1366 come out and my server could become a server and I could build my gaming rig.
I've been so surprised by how good the 2500k is that I don't know what to do. I've already purchased two cases (600T and 800D)
Guess I just carry on enjoying what I've got and see what I impulse buy later on this year![]()
Later this year, Intel will launch the Romley-EP dual-socket platform, comprised of 17 different E5-2600 models. The E5-2600 line-up will consist of 2, 4, 6 and 8 cores, operating at frequencies up to 3.3 GHz, and featuring up to 20 MB of L3 cache. They will be supported on the LGA 2011 socket.
I'm sorry if this is a noobish question, but I am new to computer building. Will these processors be compatible with 1155 socket motherboards. It doesn't say anything in the article (Tom's Hardware).
These are sever processors and will be for socket 2011.
