just wondering whats your views on i5? i am a little confused as things seem to be goin backwards with pci-e slots goin back to x8x8 mode?

should i sell my q9550 maximus gene 2 and ddr2 to get an i5 with ddr3

also any1 recommend good i5 motherboard? chip(750??) n ram? also where to buy?

i mainly use pc for gaming and watchin films!

also can i buy a mountin set for a u-120 extreme to fit on an i5 motherboard?

ive been thinking the same about i5's,they seem kinda cheap for good performance.

SCAN have a bundle atm that looks good pre-Oced to 4Ghz,the asus boards are meant to be good, and the gigas

i think with that bundle ur paying for thr OC it was just summet for you to look at

I.E for stability of the products used

With a Q9550 and an itch to spend cash, I'd look at a ddr3 775 mobo.

Seriously skipping Intel's latest money grabbers myself.

is the foxconn any good tho? i never have been a fan of foxconn see! always thought they were a budget make?

Foxcon aint budget... They make some serious high end gear, ala the bloodrage.

Also they have parts in the vast majority of pre-built business PC's. They are an absolutely massive company.

I've just bought one to go in a mates PC as he already has a 775 CPU but wanted to move to DDR3. Should be building it on Monday. Can let you know how it is to set up and overclock if you like after that? He's not gonna have a massive overclock though.

Oh yeah, I did a little searching on the RMA front too and it seems they have an RMA centre in the UK.

OH YEAH, almost forgot: OC3D Review of the BlackOps (ha ha at time of writing it was £255.. Now £85)

also my specs at the moment is lookin like this i have a maxmus gene 2 p45 with 4x1gb q9550 gtx260

the thing is i also have my p5e motherboard with northbridge and mosfet ek waterblocks and my full loop!

d5 vario(mcp655) sngle bay res triple and dual rad and an apogee gtz so if i flogged all that on ebay then i havent got a problem payin for upgrade!

as lewis robinson said : keep movin forward! :)

Above is what im thinking myself sammy.

Water loop > New gpu (a 4890/5770/5850/5870(if i can stretch to it)) > Sell my ddr2 & mobo > buy a ddr3 mobo.

As the price of ddr2 is so high atm it would probably work out not spending that much more than just upgrading to 4gb ddr2 1200 for me tbh.

Im sure i had a link to a review that compared a Q9550&Q9650&E8600 vs the i5 chips vs the bottom and middle i7's and it fairly equal, if i find the link ill post it up or pm it you.

Yup... well it had bloody better be:

4in1 Quantum Cooler

The unique all-copper modular designed 4in1 Quantum Cooler enables effective cooling of the NB, SB and VRM areas. Swap out the NB parts to configure it for air, water or more extreme forms of cooling!

I saw your post on the previous page and to be honest it's really up to you. Live Rast said, if you've just got the upgrade itch, don't really really want i5 and could wait until some new 32nm quads come out either in a few months (no annoucement or plans that I know of) or until Sandy Bridge in a year, then this isn't a bad route and would serve you well.

On the other hand, if you have the cash and want a proper upgrade, go i7.

Post it up, I'd be rather interested too.

But hey....u can always grab bargains on the sales too and please go back to WC, air cooling isnt cool, man

Sell ur furniture but never WC gear. well its cool to sell for something more up to date tho!

dude i am on the same as you, cant help you out there.

So far i liked the Corsair GT series, but there are 2 different types of them, one being XMP and the other one is DHX and they look identical on the outside, dunno what we would benefit most from tbh.

But i have also seen gskill, patriot, ocz, crucial and lots more

check this out and have a browse mate!
