I am considering getting a Radeon R9 280X when they are released.

would my I5 750 @ 3.4ghz bottleneck this card?

Regards

Just my personal opinion but I feel people use the word "Bottleneck" far too often. Chances are you would see improved performance if you had a newer set up along with the 280X but the majority of that would probably be due to games utilising the better cpu etc. rather than "Bottlenecking". That said, newer chips do come with improvements PCIE 3 etc. from the gpu standpoint so I guess there's that to consider.

Also you clearly haven't watched TTL's video yet because saying you'll pick up a 280X when the 7970Ghz editions will probably be far cheaper is madness.

+1 for this

Agreed. after looking at the 280x and the 7970's they are about the same in comparison. I will stick with my 6950/70 and possibly upgrade to a 7950 and flash it to a 7970.

Much appreciated.

you can't flash a 7950 to a 7970 btw, that trick only worked with the 6950.
