i3 2120 doesn't work for me, but does for other people

I have an i3 2120 and a crappy MSI motherboard, both died. I sent them back to Scan, they said the motherboard was broken but wont replace it because theres a sticker missing off the back of it (I guess the reciepts being in the box and the 'warranty void if removed' stickers still being there isn't enough) and said the processor works fine.

I am by no means an ultra super professional PC builder, I only started a few months ago but I know where all the cables and the like go. Basically, before sending the items back I had two processors at hand, the i3 2120 that I believed/believe to be dead, and an i5 2320. I tried the i3 with two motherboards, two sets of RAM, two power supplies, GPU plugged in, GPU not in etc. and no matter what I did whatever system had the i3 in, the screen would show 'no input', tested this with a TV and a monitor, and from the HDMI output from one motherboard, the VGA output from another motherboard, and HDMI output from a graphics card.

Now, no matter what combination of system I used with the i5, it worked fine.

Whats the problem, and how come Scan can get it to work but not me?

Sorry for long post. Just don't want to have to pay the shipping to get it back and have it again not work.

Thanks.

and what was the MSI motherboard?
possible the BIOS wasn't updated to be able to recognize the i3?
and they had an up-to-date BIOS which could recognize the i3..
wouldn't have thought so, but stranger things have happened.
but with two motherboards, thats wierd. depends on what you
put it in.. would be worth investigating BIOS and compatibility
for your motherboard(s)

The motherboard that died is a MSI H61M P25, the one that worked but not with the i3 is a MSI P61M P31, and the other was a random Lenovo motherboard. The MSI board that still works had been used with the i3 for about a month prior to this crap, I'd never had a problem with compatability.

Tried clearing CMOS on the two motherboards that I still had, didn't change anthing, but I know I cleared it right because on boot with the i5 it said it had been cleared.
