I need to break XP

Delete NTLDR

and ask them to restore it using the xp disk

Set up Proxy settings and then ask them to find out why the internet isnt working

remove this key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

"Userinit"="C:\\Windows\\system32\\userinit.exe,"

This wil prevent explorer from working

restore using

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

If they are IDE drives, slightly unplug one end of the IDE cable so that on first glance it looks to be connected, but it's disconnected enough to not read from the hard drive and boot :P

I'd say read up on how to change the bootscreen. If you get the file wrong/corrupt then xp fails to boot.

The boot screen is within the ntoskrnl.exe program which is within system32. And yeah, that will fook things up some more. :)
