I need to break XP

Hey guys

For one of my college assignments i have to setup complex problems for my classmates to fix.

I need a way of deleting (or something) some crucial XP files so that windows does not boot, crashes etc.

What would achieve this?

Do this, go to Windows/System32/Drivers fine usbport.sys rename is to .old... The USB devices wont work, they need to find the file and remove the .old. This is quite complex and will need PS/2 mouse to fix, you can buy the changers for them USB> PS/2.

delete

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DHCP\Parameters\

will disable tcpip and dhcp, to fix either use netsh int ip reset reset.txt or search for nettcpip.inf and install it

Download a program called Resource Hack and open Shell32.dll. Edit what you like. Sorted shouldn't boot and if it does it will bluescreen. Hard to fix as well (keep a back up of the original copy of Shell mind).

screenprint the desktop, set it as the background then remove taskbar and delete all shortcuts ;)

Did that with my parents once, took them a while to fix it xD.

Maybe kill explorer all together and stop if from starting. You can also try programming your own Blue Screen by getting a picture to display full screen whilst blocking input from keyboard/mouse. :p

yea the ones with background etc. are a good idea but it has to actually be the problem rather than a impersonation

I may very well do the shell32 one tho

thanks all

You could always move the pins on the mobo. Had to do a problem like that once, wouldn't boot up for shiz lol. Took me ages to find them aswell

Go to malware database and put a load of 'anti-virus' stuff on there as well.

That'll slow it down a lot and with some other system32 edits, you might have a slightly broken machine. ;)

You need a program which legitimately messes with Windows files, which you then edit. ;)

It then looks like the programs done it instead of you.

Could just right click and go to view and uncheck the show desktop icons to get rid of them.. Some dude did this at work the other day and was well worried. Cracked me up.

The cleaners at our office removed all the keys from the keyboards and put them back on in alphabetical order, put tape over the lasers on the mice (mouses ?) and flipped the desktop 180 degrees (crl + alt + arrow key) It had the admin going ape for ages, had to call out tech support. Hired different cleaners...
