I need a new rig!

Vomit

Earlyer today my current pc decided it had had enough and long story short it quit on me, it didn't like the heat(what the hell is up with this english weather!)

So yeah some parts of my old pc are salvageable but I would like to leave that stuff behind and get a PCI-Express system. I have a budget of £900(but if i can get something decent for less, fantastic) and all I need is a base unit.

So could you guys advice me on how best to spend that money of mine?

Thanks!

Asus Conroe Board

Core 2 Duo 6600

2gb Fast DDR2 (can't make a good recommendation off the top of my head)

1 x 750gb Seagate SATA2 HD (or 2 x 350... 2 x 500... in RAID 0 of course)

7900GT(X) or equivalent ATI Card (x1900xt or x1800xtx??)

That should be a good start. Sorry didnt spend much time, im trying to head out the door for a few mins right now.

As I'm stuck for time and need a pc fast, would it be better buying one from an online store? and what sites are reliable or do good deals?

Or would it be just as fast building my own? Also could someone recommend a slightly more on budget or under budget config? =P

Where about are you mate?

I'd buy the parts from an online store or even the whole thing

SCAN are great for parts and also do some full systems that are well-specced

Im from wiltshire in the UK, yeah the plan was use an online store, Mesh actually have some quite good spec at nice prices... ive just heard terrible things about mesh and that its a long delivery.

Yes that is still most definately valied... Check out SpecialTech mate, you'll save money and time! You can slam a computer together in 15 mins and be up and running. You'll save quite a bit over trying to buy some POS budget computer from an online store. Sure you can get them cheap but look at whats on the inside, complete junker. Stick with building your own comp mate, ST comes highly recommended on my list of places to buy your parts from.
