and TTL and Mr Strawberry for OC3D.

Now thats out of the way, am am looking to buy a new motherboard, ram, and processor.

I will leave a link for the products i have been looking at the bottom of the post.

For the processor i want i i7 simply so i dont have to upgrade again for a while so this is no problem.

the ram i have been looking at the 8gig corsair Vengeance ram this can change though depending.

my main problem is deciding what Mobo to pick their are so many and am not to great on what the main differneces are between modles. Pritty much i just want a gaming/video editing rig and general use.

i had a look at the Asus Rampage III Extreme but i have heardd good and bad things about it, if their is any type of cheap alternative but still very good i would be very interested.

p.s any gd advice on SSD's? been thinking i could get one when i upgrade?

first off you will want triple channel memory not dual to fully utilise it

You might not want to buy this set up due to the fact that x79 is not too far off

what would you be using it for?

could always go for 1155 if you do not want to wait

What are you using the PC for? The old 1366 chips are pretty dated now, I'd go for the 1155 ones.

Need to know your uses before we can really recommend anything, eg: gaming, 3d work, browsing the net, OCing, etc.

Thanks peeps see am glad i got some advice now

Ill be using my pc generaly as a gaming rig/general use/ the odd bit of video editing (very rare)

I dont think ill be buying one of the newer processors but, i might wait untill the realease of them drops the price on the older ones.

in terms of price range i would rather spend a bit more to get that better product. but if the cheaper one is the best am happy to buy cheaper stuff also.

once again peeps am very grateful that your helping me out

thanks for help again peeps

The ram is for dual channel so that is right kit if you go for the 1155 socket. Good choice in cpu, and personaly i would get same one. The 2500k is also good but alitle less god overall in benches. The MB is also nice, but try get the Z68 instead. That is because of Intel smart response, can o.c and use onboard or integrated cpu graphics, It also have lucid virtu that enables the use of different gpus(nvidia/amd). The Asus deluxe would also be a good choice. Check out Gigabytes UD5 and UD7. Those are sweet mobos.

Good luck mate.

yea i only do video editing every once in a while and i have a decent graphics card (for now).

just watched a video on the ASUS Sabertooth P67 and it looks nice. but a bit strange not used to seeing them with a big coller things cover on it haha.

i will also look at the Z68 when i get home later

thanks for the help guys and i will up your rep
