I am clueless, but have money to spend.

Hi there!
My old machine from 2006 started falling apart, so now I need a new one. I've been reading a lot of reviews, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask some people who know a lot more about hardware than me for advice.

• Where are you located? - Denmark.
• What is your budget? - 15.000 DKR (~2750 dollars or ~2010 euro).
• Will you need a monitor, keyboard, and/or mouse included in that budget? - No.
• Shall you be requiring an OS? - No.
• What will you be using this rig for? - Gaming and other media, as well as limited video editing.
• If gaming, what resolution will you be playing at? - 1920x1080.
• Will you be overclocking? - Moderately, yes.
• Do you need a full build or will you be reusing some old parts? - Will use the harddisk for storage, nothing else worth keeping.

Basically I want a machine that will cover my gaming and hobby level video editing needs for the next 5 years or so. Besides that, there are a couple of other things I prioritize quite highly.
The machine will be on for 12+ hours most days, so energy efficiency is appreciated.
It will be running in a room that occasionally reaches upwards of 28 degrees celcius (84 fahrenheit), this should not impact performance at all.
I don't need the machine to be ultra quiet, but I would prefer it being relatively low noise.

As a final note, I really love the Nanoxia Deep Silence 1 case, and would need a very compelling argument to pick a different one.

Hopefully suggestions will come that help me decide, or at least give me a better idea of what to look for or compare other options to. Thanks in advance for your time and advice! :)

not going to happen. spending less money now and upgrading when needed would be better

case choice is good, would suggest something like 4670k(or 4770k), asus gtx 770 dcu2, lots of good motherboard choices depending on colour scheme. 8gb corsair vengeance pro 1600, any colour, h100i with two sp120 qe fans, samsung 840 evo ssd in whatever size and the corsair rm650 psu

edit: well, check the prices, not sure what parts cost in denmark

Yeah, imagine that's the case especially on the GFX card. Spending less money also means I'll be able to afford a new monitor sooner.
The CPU cooler is the only part you suggested that's not currently being considered for the machine, but it looks quite good, will consider that an option as well. Thanks :)

With the suggested components, going for the 4770k and 500GB SSD, local prices mean there's a bit over 650 dollars left before picking a mobo. Should easily land inside budget :)
Taking suggestions for mobo, and also alternative suggestions for other components with similar price and performance to what Cru3L139 suggested (though I'm getting to the point where I have had the SSD and PSU recommended to me so many times now that I'm likely to stick with those). In other words, I guess I'm mainly looking for suggestions on mobo/gfx/ram at this point.
The Asus GTX 770 and red Corsair RAM would look pretty good on an Asus Maximus mobo I think, but no clue if those are worth the money.

love the cooler on the Asus cards, very quiet. regarding the motherboard, there are two red MSI board for less that the asus boards if i got the prices right in my head

also, please use the edit button and don't double post

Depending on games you play and software you use i would say AMD cards are the better buy. Could wait just a little bit longer and grab a R9 290 or even a R9 280x(same as a 7970 but overclocks much better for same money). The 7970Ghz/R9 280x are also faster than a 770 and still cheaper. Worth considering in my opinion.

I can help on the Price part in Denmark, i'm from there and you need to use two Places to buy from. www.komplett.dk and www.proshop.dk and the only place to get the CPU cooler is : www.coolerkit.dk ;)

Well, I've always had AMD machines, and while I haven't had any big AMD specific problems, I sorta want to try the other side now, even if it costs a little extra. Especially since I could probably get a machine with the performance I want for two thirds of my budget. Plenty to spare for playing around :)

Etlar, thank you for taking the time to check prices. I was basically only looking at proshop while trying to decide on build, but I see a lot of the components are a little cheaper on komplett.
On your question of why no window in case.. I will know, and that's all that matters. Also, I don't want my GF laughing at me and calling me a geek :p

I'm actually thinking of going with the Asus Maximus VI Formula.. I really like some of the features, especially the onboard audio solution. It's a bit pricey for what you get though. Am I just being dumb and throwing away money if I do this, you think?
Other than that I probably end up going with what Cru3L139 suggested, with maybe some faster RAM.

Will allways help out, but if you will like better sound. Go after a pure sound Card, and you will go up to around 12800 DKK. But only Asus sound Card, i know they Work well after what i have hear on OC3D.net ;)

Why would you want to pay more for less? No need to waste money.

I'm sorry my first explanation was not good enough for you, but you're not getting another.

Also, see title of thread.

Um.. I merely pointed out you're paying more for less. Sure you have money to spend but less performance is what it seems like you are aiming for so have fun with that..

I know the thread title. I also know you are clueless which is why I am here trying to help you, yet i get a rude response. Sorry for giving my advice, but I'm here trying to help like everyone else.

Anyway If you really want to spend more mine as well wait on GPUs for a while and wait for price drops; which will be very soon. Might be able to get a 280x(or 7970Ghz Ed) in crossfire inside that budget for some stellar performance results. Maybe even a single 780/290 for the same price(less FPS but only a single card and can add another in future) for a good steal. Many possibilities when new gpus come out due to price drops and such.

Your post seemed pretty rude, hence the tone of my reply. Maybe I read it wrong, and if that's the case I apologize. I still do not wish to have a discussion with you about this though. Please.
If you want to help me save money, try talking me out of going with the Asus Maximus VI Formula instead.
