sup guys. got a refurbed ssd back from corsair. no probs yet apart from i DELETED MY ENTIRE STEAMAPPS FOLDER BY ACCIDENT. easily 600gb of games gone in a second. i could puke.
steam refused to open so i uninstalled and forgot to back it up then i noticed my 2tb drive was a little light. i hate my life. was hoping to get some gaming doe tonight but no. downloading

Ouch, I feel for you. I lost around 200GB of photos, videos etc once after a botched windows re-install (I somehow managed to format the partition they were on by mistake)

600GB... Hope your ISP has a lenient Fair Usage Policy.

it was 2 years worth of downloads. so i was fair before. now im going to have to tiptoe around for a bit an hope my bt infinity connection doesnt get cut off lol

Yeah that's what I mean, replacing them all is going to kick a great, bloody dent into your total downloads.

Something I saw on the BT community pages about Infinity:
"In accordance with our Fair Usage Policy, and to protect the online experience of all our customers, if your monthly broadband usage goes over 100GB, we'll restrict your broadband speed at peak times (typically this is between 5pm and 12am, but these times may change depending on the demands on the network) to 1Mbps for 30 days."

Forgot to do the backuo before I uninstalled. Looks like my internet package is unlimited so im downloading a few games now. It will clear my collectio. So its easier navigated so its not the end of the word and at 4-6MB a second it wont take long at all

First off, are they still in the recycle bin? You can undelete them easily then.

If not, try an undelete program. As long as the area is not over written you may be able to recover them. Google, Undelete Programs.

With a normal delete the files are not actually removed, they are just marked as gone in the file directory and the area they are stored is then available to be written on.

To be completely honest do you still play all those games? Great thing with steam is they are still there to download should you so get the itch to play one again. Why not just download a few you're currently playing and download the others when necessary. I often delete games i'm not playing just to free up space maybe have 8 or so installed at a time

If the Recycle Bin limit is exceeded the files just are not put in the Recycle Bin. They are still recoverable using an undelete program if the data is not over written.

yea, i once tried one of those programs. needless to say i wasn't very successful
just take it as an opportunity to clean your library

This is why you never put steam on your main HDD/SSD,Not had to re download a game in years with doing this.

Bummer. I have done it many times, especially SD cards. Recuva is what I have used and had others use for SD recovery.

Yeah, clean up the crap. My getting this system will allow me to do that. It will have the clean install Tom did which I'll make an image of after adding a program to do that. Then I will add the necessary stuff and make another image. Then I'll do a back-up as things are added.
