Hyped-up games that left you disappointed

the thread title is : "Hyped-up games that left you disappointed".

some of you are complaining about a ported demo - lmfao

(even before it was released)

The game has been out since Tuesday in America, it's not just a few people here moaning about it it's half the internet. The game is a mess, I went to a friends earlier and he has the game on the PC, at the moment it's only DX9, there are not graphics options and the aI is dumb. There are also loads of bugs and problems with the MP.

mm playing crysis 1 the detail today is excellent. Crytek delivering a perfect launch was a must wtf! if everyone is informed prior about future improvement by crytek and ea many wouldn't be so dedicated to moaning, it'll be like advise instead. custominsation is a must for modern games, with gamer rigs and the lot. They must said we, impliment proper customisation, set the standard

Saw Linus' video on Crysis 2, first he showed the settings where there was a clear lack of graphical options, that surprised me a little.

Then he mentioned about how the game wasn't DX11....this game is the successor to one of the most resource hungry games and best benchmarking games of all time, and yet it doesn't support tech that has now been available for a good year or so on launch? WTH!

In terms of what the actual game plays like, I won't be getting it yet and therefore can't comment.

Most first person shooter games, it's just not my style for run-and-gun; Crysis, Medal of Honour, Call of Duty, Red Faction. That's why I thoroughly enjoy the old skool Rainbow Six: Ravenshield that marked an end of an era for CQB tactical shooters before the series went all Gears of War and 'consolely'

. I LOVED Ghost Recon: AW2 that I got last week. But I hope like it Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be nothing like the gameplay in the XBox trailer; if it is, this thread could get a revisit with GR:FS.

But onto the OP topic; the first few Operation Flashpoint games, don't know how the latest ones are. Gran Turismo 5 for probably never ever coming to PC.

I found Operation Flashpoint and all of its addons to be incredibly enjoyable. Made you feel like a real soldier. It was when Codemasters took it over that the series went down the drain.

Battlefield 2: Bad Company 2

Bought the game last week, finish the game this Saturday from start to finish between 1530 and 2300 with dinner wedged in somewhere.

Loved the lighting and the sound, but my god the gameplay is so painfully restrictive.

Getting shot has no real consequences to the mission and is an inconvenience at worse, since you regenerate health automatically. ALL the stealth gaming is scripted in, so there's no benefit with running a suppressed weapon since even if you nail someone quietly as the enemy 30 metres away will still hear it and still know where exactly the shot came from. Even the enemies flanking you is scripted in, they at best lob you a grenade, but other than that they pretty much run straight at you.

Rant, rant, rant over.

On the plus side, they managed to create a decent story and writing, even if it's a silly "It's the commies from the west, and socialists from the south of the USA" narrative.

I've spent more than 200 hours playing this game since its release. I haven't spent a minute playing the single player campaign. I have no clue what it's about. I'm not even exactly sure why they add single player campaigns to these games. =]

CoD: Black Ops
sad.gif

Spent 2 hours queing in tesco on release night and £45 on it only to be let down with the constant flaws, glitches, lag spikes and bullet reg issues. Several patches later its exactly the same and I stopped playing it back in January!

£12 for DLC... good luck with that yeah?

Killzone 2 - Looks great and plays relatively well but the constant fps drops ruin the gameplay - its almost as if its too demanding for the PS3.

Dev issue more than anything else - no fan boy-ism needed

Well it looks as good as Crysis Warhead on medium - high settings to me, it only runs well when there are few objects about, like how we all get a significant frame increase if you look at the ground compared to walking around. Yeah the dev issue was they didn't understand the hardware they were working with - if they had lowered the quality a notch and i dont know for certain but it appears to have a dash of AA thrown in - that could be removed - then should play fine. Could also be the slow hard drives of consoles - did you install it or were you playing from the disk drive?

Few games on console have AA anymore, some of them are painful to play because of it!

I played the demo on mine and played the full game on a friends PS3 and it looked good for console but I dont understand why they think 30fps with fps drops is better than a less cluttered more playable 40-60fps

you only need to look at the uncharted games to see how games can look and run on it, ive never had any issues, glitches or freezes on it whatsoever, its stunning to play and the gameplay is alot of fun

Sonic and Knuckles, remember that game? You could stick your sonic 3 cartridge on top of it and play? HUGE disappointment.

Because some people including myself like to play the single player.

In fact, there are very few games that I'll really get in to online.

Doom 3. It is great to build the best possible computer the same month a game is released only to discover that the game requires hardware that has not yet been release to run at max settings. Nice one Id.
