HX650 Noise

I was browsing the internet and i heard a noise coming from my computer/ Normally I hear my hard drives but this was a different noise. I opened the case, and stuck my ear to various parts of the computer, and heard it coming from my powersupply. It's a corsair HX650 and the noise was coming from the fan, it almost sounds as if the fan isn't balanced properly, or some part of the mechanism is broken or wearing away. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

I had this happen on a brand new Corsair TX650. I RMA'd it right away. Is it still covered by warranty or whoever you bought it from?

Is it like a scuffing sound? Sometimes the label comes off the centre of the fan and rubs as it rotates.

Does it sound like something is hitting the fan?

My mate recently bought HX850, we turned it on and it sounded like something was hitting the fan on the inside.

Removed the fan grill and there was a wire in some plastic tubing that had come away from the side under a clip that was catching the fan as it span round.

We pushed it back under and into the side and it stopped.

I'm not exactly sure how to describe it. I brought it from scan back in january so i doubt it's still covered by them. I'm de-dusting my computer in a few days so i'll take a look for wires and whatnot touching it then. I would do it now, but I'm heading back home from uni in 2/3 days so i'll do it when I return home

Sorry for the double post but I've now sprayed my entire PC with some compressed air including the inside of the powersupply. I didn't have to take it apart, but I'm guessing the noise was just because it was dusty as it seems to have stopped now. Thanks for the recommendations though.

Good you got it sorted

Those compressed air cans are nice to have around.
