Hurricane So... FAST!!! :)

I have just run my first 3DMark05 on my Hurricane since I have installed the new DFI motherboard and have got rubbish result of 7400 ish

Before my last Asus died i had only upped the CPU to 3.3 GHz and the 2 GTX cards were only being passively cooled and i had a result of 13957

the new setup has water on the cards and I’ve upped the CPU to nearly 3.5 GHz

has anybody got any good ideas why?

 
Right try more volts on the cpu first of all but not massively so - be careful about it. Also as Phillip says make sure the cards are SLI enabled. That's the sort of score you'd expect with only the one card running, and throttling.
 
Don't forget that the GTX's actually slow down when temps are too low (ie under 35 degrees) - I suspect that is what has happened here.

So the easy fix is to slow watercooling fans down and let the temps rise.

Also set the 2d speed using rivatuner to 400mhz or higher and the 3d speed to 500mhz and video ram set to highest possible speed (1400mhz of possible).

Use rivatuner and disable any references to clock tests in the power user settings (global overclocking and nvidia overclocikg sections I believe).

Oh and make sure you are using the 81.95 drivers ;)

Is there a way around this then? How do the big runs with sub zero temps manage?

I just bought bazx card with the idea of dry iceing it, dont like the sound of it now :(
 
There are numerous modded BIOS around to combat the cold bug - I have posted one round here somehwere but there are others so dont despair my friend.

I have installed rivatuner upped all the settings as far as it would let me, disabled all the clock test settings.

I have got the 81.95 drivers installed.

i can see both GTX cards in the Nvidia display and the temps on the second card never really go above 33 degrees the only way to make this rise is to stop the water pump (Phil's cooling is just to good!!!!)and the main card stays at 35 degrees.

i have upped the voltage on the CPU to 1.6v and put the clock speed down to 3360 MHz and run OCCT and everything is stable.

now when i run 3DMark05 i am getting a score of 8976 so i still think only 1 card is working?
 
You need to flash the cards with modded BIOS's to kill the throttling mate. Only 1 card is working and it may only be working in a slowed way due to it being right on the throttle temp.

Stupid low temp throttling!!
 
right turn off the rad fans and run 3dmark twice , first time to warm it up second time to do a proper run , t3mps shoudl go to around the 50's with no cooling so see what happens, also with 1.6v on that cpu push yr overclock to 3.6ghz :p, but yes only 1 card is working sorry bud, the other is throttling

If you look at the nvidia control panel and it shows sli is enabled, then the cards are (I think) working and your problem is one of throttling.

Isn't it good though that you can use passive cooling to get the most from ur cards? might only ever need to run the fans under load for prolonged periods) - every cloud has a silver lining ;)

i have turned off the pump to push the temps on the card to about 40 & 45 degrees and I'm still getting single card scores?

Once you reach those temps make sure you restart your computer so that the cards register at 40 degrees on start up.

Oh and just run the fans off on the watercooling and keep you room nice and warm or use a hair drier to inject warm air into the rad ;)

I thought the last few BIOS fixed the throttling? Looks more like SLI hasnt been enabled quite right..
 
The new drivers have allways worked for me i have had my cards at 5 degrees with no throttling and have never used a modded bios at least not one to disable the temp monitoring.

I think the best thing to do is test each card individually make sure they are both working properly and start fom scratch.
 
Just downloaded the Beta drivers 82.12 from the Nvidia web site and things have got loads better just got a score of 13688 on my first run of 3Dmark05 my previous best score with the Asus board was 13957 so I'm sure with a bit of fiddling i can beat it!!!

The modded BIOS I gave you to use is one that removes the cold bug - the only difference being is that you can still use the temp monitor ;)
 
Mine keeps slipping depending how hot the cards get i think its just a dfi thing I never get the same results and the best results i got was with the abit wendy mobo
 
I tweaked the gtx cards with riva and got 14352 not good enough to be top 10 the only thing i have not really tried to overclock yet is the memory I'm not really sure where to start with this though?
 
Well, you can start in the BIOS :p

After that you can use A64 memory tweaker (free to download I think), I'm not experienced in this yet (until my A64 arrives next week :D), but I'm sure the other A64 lads can help out :)
