How to keep all save files for games and programs from HDD to SSD

I would apreciate it if someone could tell me how to keep my save files (do I have to transfer?)?

Save the My documents folder and saved games folder from C:\users\*your username* then overwrite the one from your fresh install. I have done this many times before and had no probs.

Some games save to a folder where the game is installed though so you may need to make a copy of that. If there is one it will say "save game" or something like that.

Is there a way of transfering all of them over in one and letting them find there own way to their respective files?

and do I need the steam saves for the games?

You need to copy all save games from where they are on your old install and replace them exactly where you got the from on your new install.

just seems a bit of a pain moving 5,000 files over manually

apparently when I type into search "save" it says 5,000

but around 2,000 in documents
