How to check if your GEIL value has BH-5 UTT onboard

Initial Determinations (use these to determine the possibility of BH-5 onboard)

Part Code – The part code that means for sure that u have BH-5 GEIL Value

GE###3200BHDC (###is the quantity of memory)

If you have this Part code you have BH-5 for sure, if not you may still

have BH-5 onboard

Serial Code – Use CPU-Z and check the serial Code of your Stick if it is

20020725 you *may* have BH-5 onboard, if you have this part code and manufacturing date as Week 225, Year 225 you most likely have BH-5

Winbond IC’s – Winbond IC’s have a tell tale sign … 2 metal dots @ the end of each

Chip (opposed to the normal 4). If you have these 2 dots you have either some form of Winbond IC’s (GEIL Value only uses 1 Winbond IC – BH-5) or really really old 133 Hynix memory.

Brain Power PCB – The BH-5 GEIL value uses ‘Brain Power’ PCB a much stronger

And Darker PCB that generates less ‘noise’ and may have the numbers 808 or 815 written on the PCB (this is not a total indication of Brain Power) <thanks to legit reviews for the pic>

CAS3 – Turn your timing to a CAS of 3 & stock frequency/voltages if it doesn’t boot

or fails a memtest you *may* have BH-5 (BH-5 doesn’t like CAS3 @ 400MHZ/stock voltage)

The 100% Determination test

Ok if you have some of the above points you most likely have BH-5 onboard and should go ahead with this test.

Turn you RAM down to 400 MHz then change your timings to 2-2-2-5/6 and put your voltage to 2.85 if u can pass a memtest you have BH-5 :)

Note: I or www.systxtreme.com take no responsibility for broken hardware due to the above tests

I ordered 2 * 256 MB sticks of GEIL Value last August and another 512 Stick around april ALL have BH-5 and Both run @ 2-2-2-5 @ 2.85 (400Mhz) -- funny thing is BH-5 in GEIL Value was apaprently only a recent thing

my ram has all the features EXCEPT the code (GE###3200B)

Currently www.overclockers.co.uk have the GE###3200BHDC partcode in stock (this is stil no insurance that the ram will be BH-5 but tit really increases the likleyhood to like 90% possibility)

DAVE check your ram cause u got ur 512 stick the same time as me from www.overclockers.co.uk

Nice one Joe - reppies winging their way to you :D

according to your cpu-z evidence i have BH5. correct seriel code and week numbers.
every where i look on the net related to GEIL BH-5 Value its says that the serial listed above is an indicator of extreme likley hood of BH-5 Value , with the 255 manu dates its like 85% certainty... and u did order it the same time as me. do the CAS 2-2-2-6 @ 2.85 (DDR400) test (this is the test GEIL say to do to check .. if your ssytem boots and passes a memtest u have BH-5 UTT)

also see how ur RAM reacts to a CAS of 3 and do the visible check <2 metal dots @ end)

Davey do the test check it :D ur NB may need extra voltage to deal with the higher latency @ a high FSB (mine does)
