Hi,

Wanted to get a general idea of what people regard as a quiet pc and the noise that other peoples pc makes to measure your pc sound if you have an Android device download "DeciBel" from the market.

then take a reading from 5cm from your case and then 1m from the case and post it please.

ill start 42Ddb at 5cm, 36Ddb at 1m.

Cheers getting really paranoid about if my pc is loud and one fan seems to make a creaking noise still even though they are all same fans of same speed controller but if i speed it up and down a few times the noise goes away.

Mines quiet most of the time, yet i've had to turn the fans on max since my PC is next to my radiator which i've turned on, since my room seems to be constantly cold

CBA measuring. Both can be as silent as mice, or as loud as a brass band.

My day to day rig has the fans turned right down in the command centre so I can live with it. As I game it gets noisier but to be honest I'd have no idea how loud it is because I wear a headset and it's incredibly rude to game with friends without one (glares at Stepster). Listening to everything twice, howling feedback sounds and hearing yourself are not how it's supposed to be.

Now the white quad SLI Alienware? Heathrow, do we have permission to land?

But again, it's easily drowned out with a headset. Better that than dead hardware.

The loudest thing in my rig is the CPU fan. It doesn't spin up that fast when gaming, but when I'm folding it is audible, but not loud by any measure.

Will measure for ya when I get back to Uni.

My PC is not intolerably loud when everything is at 100%, but usually when working and listening to music, and also playing less demanding games, all case fans are at 50%, and it's pretty damn quiet.

ive ditched the speed controller got some 3pin splitter cable gonna run them of my motherboards speed controller alot quieter now without the creaking or cracking noises.

i can hear my pc but, its quieter than my bro's xbox

Had 5 rigs with some 5 to 7 nvidia gpu`s.All things oc`ed for folding.I used at least 300£ on casefans, but all the fans had to run 100%.

32 fans in all running 100%,that was loud

Really? That's nuts. I got 3 CM Sickleflows and the stock AMD cooler. Folding all day, everyday, I think it's pretty freakin loud. What type of fans are you using?

Now i only have 1 i7-970 folding and its watercooled with a 360 rad in a hafX.I have 3 akasa apache,1 nzxt 140mm rear and two CM 200mm stock fans, side and front.

I also have a bench-table with a 360 rad mounted.3 CM sickleflows is used on that rad.

Mines fairly quiet with the larger fans that it runs.

My mums computer is inaudible, i was wondering why it was so quiet so i opened it up the other day, the whole things passive, running a radeon 9550 too , i also forgot that i built that computer

Fans at GT AP-15's running at 40% on my rads

ive got 11 fans on mine (and thats not inc gpu fan(s)) and it just sounds like a room fan on a low setting, i can sleep in my room with my PC on, the leds are more distrubing than the sound

1 meter away:

Room volume - 32 dB

PC Start-up - 49 dB

PC Idle volume - 39 dB

5 cm away:

Room volume - 32 dB

PC Start-up - 58 dB

PC Idle volume - 46 dB
