How big a res do I need?

Salmonidae

Hi,

Currently in the process of building a loop for my i5 and a 5870. Loop will have two 240 mm rads for cooling and I am just wondering how big a reservoir I need - would a single 5.25" bay res be enough?

Cheers

Yes that will be fine.

The size of the res doesn't effect the performance of the loop. It can increase the time for the loop to hit max temp and flatten out temp spikes but in reality it just doesn't matter. You don't even have to have a res, a fill line would do.

This ^^

I do prefer a big res tho, makes bleeding easier

Depends whats higest point of your waterloop. With fill line it can be out of case if needed.

Its easier as you can run a long jet in the res which blows the bubbles away from the pump inlet.

You cant move my res..

Very nice systems, specially firsth one! :)
But that dosnt include all res(of easynes or looks). Personaly i dont like looks of bayres, but thats just me.
