Hi, I built a 2500k build a week ago and im still using the intel heatsink im getting 90C+ when i run prime. OpenHardwareMonitor also says im running at 3611mhz i might of hit the TPU switch on the motherboard but the bios says that im running on normal mode any thoughts on what i might have done? i can take some screen shots if wanted. Thanks

What is your CPU voltage? should be around 1.26v on load. 90 *c is way too hot though you should be getting around 70 *c or less on full load at 3.6ghz in Prime.

Also make sure the cooler is properly installed sometimes those stock Intel ones seem like they are installed properly but sometimes one of the plastic clips doesn't lock in place properly.

1.208v on the CPU. ill pay around with the mounting tonight

yea, it sounds very much like the heatsink isnt getting a full contact on the chip to me too.

refit it with some fresh tim and see how it goes, dont run any more torture tests till you have either

No prob, it happens a lot with those stock coolers I have had it happen to me before in the past as well.

yea, i think everybody has had it happen with the great push pins of stock intel blowers at one time or another

its just good that you caught it and are able to fix it

Much better, those temps are normal for that clock running Prime95 with a stock Intel heatsink.
