High temps whilst gaming?

:::Your CPU also gets pretty unusually warm for the game you are plying. Tweak your computer's CPU cooler so it spins faster as the temp rises, or get another one that performs well. Keep your computer dust free ( it can cause heat buildup, therefore instability ).::

How would I go about that?Do I go into the Bios?I have just done a restart and had a look and it gives me the option to change the cpu speeds ranging from standard to turbo also manual there is also an option to enable disable, cpu fan monitoring.I,m not that confident for manual so should I just set to turbo?
As for dust it is cleaned weekly, and a new cooler is on the cards as well as some of those new corsair fans,so thats all good on that point just need to wait for Christmas to be over for deliveries to get back to the norm.

Si I have just gone into AIsuite 2 and manualy adjusted all of the fans on that little graph, and the idle temps have dropped down by 3-5deg.And sorted start up programs so we will see later when i have another go on the game.Cheers guys

I think you should have some settings for adjusting the target temps in your motherboards bios. You set things from there, and not have to have a program slowing down your startup and worry about it not working properly and whatnot.

do you get any coil whine or any noises coming from your graphics card? when i had a similar issue i just reset my bios and started using DVI instead of HDMI (dont really see how that will resolve the problem) but it did for me. like everyone is saying, it does not seem to be a heat issue, maybe check for any wiring issues on your motherboard and hardware.

No noise that I have noticed mate,I'm using DVI,at the moment, and, gave it a reset. I also stripped the case down yesterday to check the wiring and re done it all.I've just had a couple of hours on Max payne 3 and nothing happened with that,so like already mentioned,it could well be a software issue. This is the second instal of the game, and it has happened before and after fresh instal,I'm going to try a few hours on Borderlands 1 with it being basically the same game,to see id the problem persists.xx

Well it turns out(as it has been mentioned)that it must be a software glitch, within the game, cos as soon as I loaded it earlier, went to sort out weapons and Bam,there it was again, and only about 5mins in.Also I got a bit lost at one point,so I went to trusty youtube and the video I chose, the guy filming had the exact same problem happen to him.So thank god it isn't cooling that is the issue, although It still needs to be upgraded.Thank you all for your help, and happy posting.

Sounds to me more like a game or driver issue. Make sure your drivers for both your motherboard and graphics card are up to date and installed correctly.

If it is only happening in one game and usually in the same area of the game then I do not think it is a cooling issue.

Just a quick one for you man. Try to put spaces between your full stops and and the next letter. Also break it up a bit with paragraphs. I do not want to seem like the grammar nazis or whatever but it makes it easier to read rather than a wall of text.

If you have your drivers up to date, you can always go back to an older driver. New drivers don't always give a note of stability.

True but borderlands 2 is a new game. Most new drivers are designed for new releases first. Look at when rage came out. The in game textures would literally pop in a second after you looked around. Then a new driver came out and it improved.

With the game being so new and the issue seeming to happen only in one game and at the same point I would guess it is the game or the drivers not being up to date.

Yes but that was Rage. Borderlands 2 is a different game ( I played both ), some rules don't apply for every game. All I am saying is that you need to be flexible, and sometimes improvise. it's strange that sometimes things don't have an imediate fix even if the fix should come from a company that makes kickarse graphics cards... etc. You definitely need to determine that issue. I know how it's like. I am gaming Battlefield 3 at the moment and I am getting this massive stutter with hard drive activity. It doesn't happen all the time, and sometimes when I play the game it doesn't happen at all, but I haven't yet came across a fix... maybe my HDD is too slow ( it is old anyway ) but the problem isn't there all the time.
We need to determine your issue. Now even though I played Borderlands 2 I am unsure if it uses Punkbuster or not... Punkbuster sometimes leeds to instability and BSOD's when some monitoring softwares are being used while gaming.

All my drivers are up to date, from what I remember during the game installation it does use Punkbuster.
I had a good 4 hour blast on Max Payne 3 last night and there were no problems with that.

It could be display driver issue. Freezing during the game then sending you to the desktop then back to the game... You are also using an AMD card... With AMD drivers you can sometimes get this freeze in games as the driver crashes and then it sends you back to the game as the driver recovers, or it notifies you with something like this message "display driver has stopped working and has recovered succesfully". You didn't mention anything about that, so I am gessing you don't get this kind of notification when it happend.

My next guess would be to either install a slightly older driver or reinstall the game. If your reinstalling you may want to backup saved game files.

This happens to both AMD/nVidia cards with games and drivers and monitors. It seems to come and go for no reason.

Personally, once all the obvious overclocking craziness has been eliminated, I put it down to hdcp handshaking between the monitors and the gfxcards.

How to fix it ? .... good question. I do believe it's the contents of the drivers more than anything. But something to do with hdcp versioning.

Happens with Macs too.

Check to both, and the problem is still there. If anything it is happening a bit more now,so I've just reverted back to the most up to driver.
