High Pitched Squeal

Only time Ive ever heard a gpu squeek is when u forget to put the pci-e power cable in...could it be related...
the ammount of customers ive had on the end of the phone saying the graphics card we sent them is faulty and is squealing happens at least 3 times a week...some people cant read install guides...
it is a bit weird though, they were using special sounds to move undesirable teenagers from specific locations, good job i'm past it really then, just turn your volume up and drown it out

Evening all,
Ever since I have had high performance hardware I have always had a weird high pitched sound when the PC is put under load. Usually a game.
Today the new Nvidia Folding Client came out and when I run that I get that constant high pitched squeal from my PC. When I stop the folding the noise stops. This leads me to believe it is something to do with the GPU.
BUT, this also happened with my 8800. I think.. that overclocking leads to this, as my second machine while folding never makes a sound. It may just be me because I have pretty good hearing and can pick up those high pitched noises that give you a head ache.
Anywhoo, the PC is completely stable as you would expect. Any ideas?

I can`t provide a solution for u, but from my experience of pcs squealing under load, is generally electronics taking more current than they should be handling.
With a cpu/mobo issue, obviously u have bios things to play with.
With a gpu/mobo issue, I`m not sure.

Well more voltage = more current. So that is logical.
I just did a test by setting everything back to stock and the squeal is still there so it must be the GPU as Kemp said.
I have now decided after getting a serious head ache(Ow ow ow) and realizing I have to change in and out of SLI mode to run the client that it isn't worth it for the time being.
Although, when the client was running stable(for 3mins) it sure does fly.

My 8800GT did that earlier today when I put it to 702/2016/1728.
I wondered what it was, I was moving further and further back to avoid explosion damage.

My computer makes a hissing sound when I move my mouse or when my PC is under load.

I`d be more inclined to say High pitched squeal = shorter life span of circuit.
Sound is generated by a vibration. One assumption I would make is the higher "pitch" the sound, the faster the vibration, or frequency. If something is designed to vibration under a frequency, then you would have to also assume that this is within the design specifications, or boundries of operation.
If the card manufacture could assure me that the circuit is designed with a capacity to emit a squeal, and would not effect the card beyond it`s normal warranty - I`d be ok with that.
Otherwize I`d be counting the days tbh.
