High latency due to to nvidia and dx11

Hi guys,

Does someone know how to resolve these high latency issues? Its ridiculous as I don't have any hardware faults yet my PC runs like shit. For example when i boot up and the PC goes into the windows environment it freezes for like 3 seconds even though I have an SSD. In Battlefield 3 despite running at 60+ FPS it lags. According to latencymon its dxgkrnl.sys-directx graphics kernel, microsoft windows and nvlddmkm.sys-Nvidia windows kernel mode driver which have high latency and are causing the stuttering.

I have done everything. I have disabled onboard sound, updating realtek drivers, updated LAN drivers, disable LAN, taken out wireless card, reinstalled windows, reinstalled games, updated GPU, downgraded GPU drivers, updated all mobo drivers chipset etc.

My specs
AMD Phenom X4 955
GTx 670
Corsair hx 750
Corsair Force 3 120gb
M4A88TD-V EVO USB 3

Sorry for the long post but please help.

Does your SSD have the latest firmware? Do you have all cores enabled in MSCONFIG? Test your GPU on another system? Run a CPU diagnostic test?

DX11 is not working on nvidia cards for alot of games atm. a mate of mine plays wow on a 590 and has had to set it to DX9 to play

he has also had to do this for BF3 and Planetside (albiet in the beta)

has been in touch with nvidia and they said they are awaiting driver updates to resolve this problem

i might be wrong with your cards but it is the same with his 590

I dunno why you double posted this, but i'd just like to point out. DX11 seems fine on a 580, I play bf3 ALOT and its fine in DX11

I'm wondering how you ran bf3 in dx9 mode when you have a dx11 card?

Planetside is DX9 anyway, so there's no worry about switching that about..

Also since when is WOW dx11?

As for this issue, is it in-game rubberbandy type lag, or input lag.

Can you ask a mod to merge your posts so we're not repeating outselves plz :)

For me it just works fine .. but for competition the most of my games run with direct x 9 minimum details - maximum shadows etc. changed the settings to DX 11?

IS your ram manually set, including the 5 main timing settings?

I can tell you now its not the driver / kernal mate

Also since when is WOW dx11?

:)

wow can be run in DX9 or DX11 just like it can be run in 32bit or 64 bit all done on the same launcher screen settings. i was just putting my point across as to what my friend had trouble with with his Nvidia card and what he had been told by Nvidia representatives

Mate i lived with nasty latency some time ago and i know how infuriating it is.. i had like peaks of like 16k etc. Bloody nuts it was, couldnt listen to music or enjoy a movie. & for music recording i had to dual boot xp just to record tracks without the skipping. I hope the following helps somewhat.

-check that your drives are in AHCI mode in the bios.
-if they werent (leave them be) & you will either have to reg-edit windows and change the following or change to AHCI enabled in bios and reinstall windows

Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\msahci
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0 [3 is default], and then click OK.
Go to BIOS and enable AHCI, Save & Reboot

You will probably see the latency levels are still a little high but the spikes should be gone.

Failing that, all i can suggest is run driversweeper before every install you do with drivers. I did find that nvidia drivers (with my old gtx480) were crazy with latency spikes.

Absolute worst case, buy a sound card and see if that helps. (then disable the onboard audio)

Best of luck mate.

Hmm is anyone else having problems with the pictures on this phorum loading? I'm trying to determine if its a problem on my end or if it's the phorum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Wish you luck!

just you I'm afraid *forum

Can you please explain again what you mean exactly by latency here please?

Ok Tom i did what you said but the problem remains and I don't understand why you think its not the kernel because on latencymon it says that it has the highest excution. Also ACHI is enable. Please guys give me something! I'm starting to think that spending all this money on my PC is a waste all I have got is trouble. Should have stuck with ps3!
