High cpu idle temps?

Hi,

My 1090T OC at 4Ghz and 1.48v is sitting at 41C idle with water cooling with 1 120rad and 1 360rad and 4 fans, the fans are running at 40% and i have a GPU in the loop to but that idles around 31C and is a 5870.

turning my fan up to 100% will reduce the idle temp to around 32C and when gaming at 50% fan speed the temp gets to 48C.

are any of these cause for concern and will intel CPU have lower temperature?

When it comes to intel cpu's I know that 1.48v is way to high although im not really experienced with Amd cpu's so I couldnt say realy

the idle temps aren'T that important because the difference between wc and ac are bigger in the load temps than in idle, so don'T worry so much about them.

interresting would be your ambient temperatur because it limits all cooling solutions

a change to intel wouldn't change the temps that much, but would probably even rise a bit because intel cpus have a higher max temp. instead of low temps intel cpus are more powerful and use less energy

41c with water cooling to me seems pretty high, I have never had a cpu on air cooling go above 40c at idle, you could try re applying thermal paste

i have my x4 b50 at 1.404v and no overheating, the 1.4 - 1.45 ish is the casual boarder for amd chips but i could be wrong

dont worry about idle compare the load temps instead.

and chip is a chip it doesnt matter if its intel or amd the manufacturing process is important factor for cooling, 20nm chips(i.e. ivybridge and upcoming piledriver hopefully, some fm1 i think aswell) are best in terms of cooling atm
