Hi!

Been reading this site a while and have finally taken the plunge and signed up.

I'm into PC gaming and as you can see from my PC spec, I've bought some decent components to make it game properly.

I've used CRT monitors for years, as they have much more flexibility with resolution and refresh rates. Also, they don't smear like LCDs, which is a killer for fast FPS gaming - even "gaming grade" 2ms monitors tend to be pretty bad.

But my best CRT was dying, so what to do? Well, I was a bit stuck, frankly. I've been interested in the nvidia 3D Vision bundle and Novatech were doing a demo...

WOW!

Seriously, it blew me away. The 3D effect is awesome and incredibly, there's no motion smear at all from the Samsung 2233RZ monitor when in 3D mode. It's amazing how the active glasses eliminate it: it's as good as a CRT and not toooo bad in 2D mode. Two minutes later I'd bought it and haven't looked back since.

I've shown it to my friends, who were really impressed, too.

My previous cases were all a bit too cramped for large cards like the GTX 285. I just got myself a Coolermaster HAF 922 case and that rocks too. It's really large, leaving a large clearance for the graphics card, very well built and looks good.

And finally, thanks to Bungral, who encouraged me to join.:rocker:

Thanks everybody, what a nice welcome. :)

Anyway, I need to get to 15 posts to get past the spam limiter, so let's talk about something.

I recently bought a TechNet sub in order to get my paws on Window 7 Ultimate early and all the other Microsoft goodies, such as server OSs.

Well, W7 64-bit lives up to the hype, it runs even better than the RC and has a new default background logo. There's no reason to run back to XP after trying it, I tell you - and I was a holdout. It runs as well on older hardware as XP, it's that good.

Interestingly, just like the RC, you can still crash Explorer at times by doing simple things such as renaming a drive. :whack: Apart from this glitch, which will no doubt get fixed in time, I've not seen any other problems to report on and makes a fantastic OS.

On TechNet subs, get yours cheaper by 25% with either of these two codes: TMSAM10 or TMSAM04

You can then actually make a profit by buying Vista Ultimate SP2 Full from Amazon for £165 and flogging it on eBay (you'll make a loss). Then get Win7 Ultimate with the free upgrade offer and flog that on eBay too, at a loss. However, together, they will add up to much more than the £165 you paid. I've done the first part already. :D I'll probably eBay my Vista Ultimate that I bought way back in March 07 - yes, I was one of those suckers, hehe.
