HHD Problem

Right, after installing a few games I ran into a problem...I've completely run out of space. Now while this isn't a big surprise from a 80GB Hard Drive. The surprise is that I've managed to lose some space.

The total amount of of space of both my 'Drives' adds up to 74GB leaving 6BG worth of space that is missing from the OS and what ever else... but I dont have 74GB worth of programs and things on my system, I come up 20 odd GB short of 74GB....Where The F is it?

When I de-frag it 'moves' files that are not on my computer either.

TOC .

The more files you have the larger the table of contents is and this takes up room. Allso you have NTFS or FAT.

80 gig is not 80 gig you lose a certain amount for the TOC and the MBR.

This is more prevalent in 1TB hard drives were yo lose a hell of a lot more just a couple of gig.

so with a 80 gig after formatting in NTFS you will only really have 74.5 Gh Meaning 6.5 GB's is used by the NTFS format and TOC.

I know about that, but I only have about 55GB of data on my system, and it is saying I have run out completely

Is system restore turned on?

Also if its not set lower you may lose about 1gb to 5gb of space to page file if its set on auto.
